1st of all : I AM A MAJOR BLACK-DEATH-DOOM......METAL FAN ...now that I've clarified that I hope u understand that my opinion is not even close to what u might call objective...therefore u are 100 per cent free to simply NOT take it into consideration..(pls remember that)**
BLACK metal is one of the numerous types of metal music..
Characterized by :
BRUTAL VOCALS (not understandable to the ''uninitiated'' as far as this aggressive type of singing is concerned)
LYRICS with angry,provocative,violent,aggressive and usually dark and spiritual context
FAST RIFFS not unlike thrash/speed/intense metal with the exception that in this particular type of metal; fast pace prevails over melody (in MOST cases...mark my words in MOST cases NOT ALWAYS)
DRUMS have a dominant part in BLACK METAL..not only to assure that the pace remains fast , but also to preserve that OFFENCIVE and palindromic (repetitive) character of the (black metal) songs.....
(a perfect example: NON SERVIAM-Rotting Christ)
Black_Metal_BAND MEMBERS more than often adopt a_dark_and_mysterious ''image''....more than the average HEAVY metal bands...the common black shirt is replaced in many cases by chain mails, leather pants are often decorated with A LOT (SERIOUSLY a lot of spikes), and certain accessories (like axes,blades,mauls......grotesque masks) help achieve the desirable ''look'' for this UNHOLY type of music(personally I CHOSE NOT to adopt this type of dressing because in most cases it is simply RIDICULOUS...)
Now as far the MUSIC as an overall outcome is consert I believe that it is quite extraordinary...ecstatic,and yet powerfull enough to keep u in full awarness for hours and hours to come...loud and yet not annoying(like punk or gay hip-hop,rap or R&_NOT_REALLY_MUSIC_JUST_SOME_DUDE_SPEAKING_VERY_FAST sort of NOT-music)..(pls go up to the **)
Finaly: The FOLLOWERS:
Judging WITHOUT knowing is worse than ADMITTING failure to comprehend and understand the differences between every man....PREJUDICE unfortunately has often led people to address to US-black-metal fans as :followers of Satan, or enemies of Christ, or even worst....Terrorist and killers of all that is GOOD AND PEACEFUL.....pls THINK before express an opinion.......sluring is not the way to oppose to something u don not understand.....FOLLOWERS of black metal are not cursed, or troubled kids with no way out of their dark world,metal_fans are NOT traped in an endless torment forced to express their anxiety and stress through an aggressive type of music...OBVIOUSLY I am a metal fan and the ONLY ONE thus that has possed a few standing arguements in this forum...me and my friends ALL listen to BLACK metal and still have succesfull lifes (I am an electronic-engineer with a scholarship in the best university of my country and one of the best among Europe) why are u being biased against me and not JUST ONLY ME..but every single ''me''=metal-fan....W_E Metal Fans are normal, people WITHOUT complexes, unless, if conformism has led u to belive that NOT BEING a barbi-wanna-be is a psychologic dissorder.....it is more common for NON_METAL_FANS to be UNILATERAL against differend type of music than US.....
PLS remember that NOT_ONCE have I made a comment about the followers of different sorts of music...I might NOT LIKE rap or country or..whaterver the hell u people might listen to but IN-NO-WAY have I delibered an immediate insult....PLS DO THE SAME..it is your choise NOT like METAL but accusing US for being FOLLEWERS OF SATAN is simply UNEXCEPTABLE........

Never heard the term "black metal". I have heard of heavy metal and I like heavy metal. In fact I like all kinds of music. I like Ozzy and AC/DC, Toby Keith, Elvis, the Beatles etc. Music is music and only those with some kind of agenda say it is devil music.

Not bad at all. Music is music--it doesn't tell what kind of person you are. I've met plenty of wholly good people that listen to Marilyn Manson, and plenty of downright evil people taht listen constantly to Gospel. It is the person who makes the person--not the music.

when Ozzy speaks of how to follow the satanic worship and how to "get in," it is easy to see where most of that music glorifies.
