I've seen many postings from people of every walk who assume that "the other side" (whatever seems to be 'opposite' their belief) transcends into "they are not using their minds" or "they are not being logical".
why is that?
If everyone is supposedly illogical or not thinking, doesn't that mean that we are ALL illogical? Do we all NOT use our minds??

Dear Ryan P:
you have just proven my point.
I too am a very technical, deliberate and tactile person who thinks things through logically - and yet I am a Born Again Bible Believing Christian.... what's that all about man??

dear gazpacho (love that name)!
I beg to differ. I have seen, experienced, asked, interacted with, felt, witnessed and indeed THOUGHT my way to my faith. It required ALOT of thinking on my part. My faith is the RESULT of thinking - it grows because of thinking. Go figure.

I think its all a matter of how we control the words that come out of our mouths. In fact, the tongue is the most difficult and last member of the body to control.
This applies to everyone. No one is excluded from efforts to tame the tongue.

i'm agnostic, yet i do no longer think of atheists use faith in God's non-life. there isn't any information to signify that there is a God, so there is real no reason of each man or woman to anticipate there is. Plus, the load of evidence is often on the affirmative. The Celestial Teapot makes astonishing factors. Atheists are sensible, while Christians are aesthetic. I have no problem with maximum Christians, yet those on right here tend to be nutjobs.

What I think or don't hink is irrelevant. YOU must follow your OWN feelings on things and not let others form your opinions for you. You have thought it over and have come to a conclusion. Based on that conclusion, you heve found that there is a reason to hold to your Faith.
I have thought long and hard on MY Religion. Based on MY thoughts I have come to a conclusion and have found reason to hold MY Faith.
You are right, I am right. ALL of us are correct, as long as our beliefs are based on sound, logical thinking and reasoning. This is not necessarily one of those things in which ONLY one line of thought can and should be correct. We were ALL born as individuals. No two of us are the same, therefore there is no ONE single WAYD to think, reason, adn come to a conclusion that willl bring us to Faith.
What is important here, is for us all to accept that about each other and be wiling to see and understand things from the perspective of others. Many of us can do that and many either can't or WON'T. The universe is made up of a WIDE diversity of people, beliefs and other things. I can see the beauty in that, and I can believe that Deity can ALSO see the beauty in that as well. Things are just as they SHOULD be.
Brightest Blessings,

I would first of all jlike to remind the good people here that there is a vast difference in intelligence and wisdom. Then, as a born again Christian, I would like to commend Jack B. and recommend him for for a candidate for President of....well of something Big.

Ok, do you want to know what I think? I think Jack should get best answer! That was great!
Seriously, I know many people of faith do think. The only ones I have a problem with are those that parrot someone else and do no research on their own, especially when what they say is hearsay and blatantly false.

I really don't care what others believe, and I don't try to convince others to my way of thinking. I just get angry when extremists (of any religion) are condescending to me, blow people up, or destroy the lives of my loved ones for their own purposes. In my opinion, not believing in any God or religion is a baseline for all thought, all other ideas beyond that need to be proven to be believable.

It seems clear to me that humans invent gods all the time. I have seen physics and science work. I have never seen magic. People have an emotional need for safety, and they fear death, and they fear losing their loved ones. People lie all the time, and these needs and fears are motives to lie. Parents lie to their children just a little more than they lie to themselves. I think theists do not THINK about other perspectives outside of their warm, fuzzy cosmology...as I have experienced them in my life.

It's just old fashion smear tactics. It's a very lazy method to keep the one opinion you have without bothering to show support for it or allow the possibility that you might be wrong.
That, and some people found out in kindergarden that "name calling" worked for them.

I can't answer that but I have noticed it, too. I am not a college graduate therefore I am not high minded. I don't measure people by intellect so lack of intellect isn't something I would fault someone for. It's better to be humble.

I saw a Christian on this very forum say that schizophrenia was demon possession.
I think anyone who actually looked at the bible, thinking logically, could never take it literally.
