Are you sure they didn't come with a list? got to the
school website or talk to some of his 7th grade
friends parents. Yous should also got to the school
and see for yourself if they have the lists in the office.
you could also ask some eighth graders from that school
(if you know some) what they used last year.

All schools are different, and some are very very picky, so I don't know how helpful I can be.

The standards, of course, are white wide-ruled paper, red pens, blue and/or black pens, and #2 pencils.

However, you need to contact his school. The elementary school my son is going to hasn't officially released the supply list to the local stores (like Walmart has all the local school supply lists), but had it online or we could call and get it.

Some of the nitpicky stuff they required:

12 x 18" 50 count construction paper (not sold anywhere in town)
4 Expo dry erase markers with a bullet tip (nothing but chisel or fine tips sold anywhere)
Fiskar brand scissors
Elmer's glue (not store brand)
Plus all the folders are color-specific, with and without brads.

Since the school may require specifics based on brand, size, count, material (plastic pocket folders), or color, it's best to get a school-specific supply list.

Call them. If they really don't have a list, that'll be nice to know.

I would just add money to a gift card until the school sends home a school list. Each period teacher will require different things for the class. Every school is different. I got a school list from Wal-Mart and they offered great suggestions but once my son entered school they gave a whole new list. But send him off with back pack, binder with paper, pencils, pens (the basics) remember to save money for P.E clothes, lockers and school photos. They like to creep those in the 1st month.

Many Staples or Office Depot stores have generic lists for most grades. They're on a display near the front of the store.

hey, i had the same problem last year!

I'd say get him:
-a 3-ring binder for each class
-a pack of loose leaf paper for each
-LOTS AND LOTS of pencils (I'm talkin hundreds!)
-blue, black, and red pens (most teachers only accept blue and black, and red comes in handy for correcting.)
-Highlighters, which ever colors he likes.
-A Sharpie marker (probably black)
-A strong and sturdy backpack
-a pack of colored pencils/markers/crayons (but most teachers prefer colored pencils)
- A calculator
- A blank tape cassette (if he's taking a foreign language
-A dry erase marker and eraser/old sock
-Also, teachers will have psychotic personal requests that you'll need to get after the 1st day of school.

Good Luck!!
