If you need to title it in his name, have it as a duel title. Both your and his name will be on the title and will require your signature before it can be sold. If the "mom" forges your signature you can press charges and reclaim the vehicle.

This is easy....what you need to do is have him sign it and get it retitled in both your names as an and title. The title needs to say as follows

your name & sons name

If you do that both of you will be required to sign in order to sell. This can be done through the local dmv or title agency. Also you can write on the title sold for $1.00 the dmv or agency can assist you to retitle the vehicle this way.

you will need the title to the unit. i would not add my name as registered owner for liability reasons. on the back of the title in the lien section enter your information, take it to the DMV with a statement of facts, stating this is not a sale, just adding a lien holder.

if you bought it have it put in your name and borrow a small amount of money against it ,it doesn't have to be much,a few hundred will do,you have an ex like my old one sounds like, she sold her car for a case of beer once, but that's the best thing you can do,set the money aside and use it for payments on it,what ever, good luck with it,i hope it works out.

you can go to the place where you go to license [court house] and they will put one on it for $10 in most states then the car can'nt be sold until you sing of and that cost another $10
