Currently the favored "game" and "movie-video" projector is the $320 Infocus SP4805 2000:1 contrast ratio with the famous Faroujda deinterlacer from infocus.com > store > clearance center> refurbished home projectors >SP4805.

Here's a movie snap of "A Good Woman" projected onto a 92" diagonal screen/wall:

what I am seeing out there in the field is these are the hot projectors. I will put them in general price categories.

The under $1500 crowd is buying the Optoma HD70, The Mitsubishi piece, and more recently the new $1300 Sony. I have seen the Sony personally and it is nice.
1500 to 3000 customers are looking for the Mitsubishi and Epson in this price range. The 1999 Sony is just Ok,, I can see the screen door from about 10 feet away... Unaceptable for a 2000 investment. If you can go to $3000 get that 1080p Epson. Wow is all I have to say.

Here's some links to projectors that are a really good buy right now. Without knowing a price range it's hard to tell you exactly, but you can get any of these for less than $1000.

I love the LCD version, so I have a Sony VPL-HS51. Great contrast ratio of 5000:1 and a terrific picture. I have a 100" screen.

If you like DLP technology, check out the BenQ, they are rated highly, but priced reasonably.

Which ever one you get, please get a decent screen. The picture is only as good and the screen! I have a Stewart Firehawk, it's pricey, but well, well worth it.

Good luck!

It just depends how much you want to spend. The Epson web site has some good buys.
