I am wondering if this God stuff is true?

Most anthropologists believe that the belief in an afterlife and higher being first appeared among homo sapiens around 60,000 years ago, coinciding with the first appearance of ceremonial burials.
The reason it caught on and persisted among our ancient primitive barbarian ancestors, was a mechanism for survival. In times of danger, crisis, starvation or other highly emotional states, the 'god gene' is triggered in our primitive limbic system of our brains. Nowadays, nueroscientists can artificially trigger the 'religious experience' by probing certain areas of the limbic system....that last remnant of our reptillian past.

People are born with no beliefs, therefor concludes that God is made up. God was used by primitive people to explain the unexplainable, such as rain.

How can it be if there are so many different versions and religions. I agree with the answer that we aren't born with it. Its taught to us like language and everything else. It's the luck of the draw where you're born, what religion is taught.
