I've only been drinking regularly for about a year now, and within that time I have blacked out so many times that I've lost count.

Since I have somewhat cut back on my drinking because of school, I am still blacking out once or twice a month. It use to be about 4-5 times a month a few months back. It never has really frightened me, because I am always around my friends and from the information I gather from them, I am capable of all the basic tasks such as holding a conversation, driving, ordering food/drinks etc.

Still, as much fun as in the time leading to the blackout, I'd love to remember the whole night. I know that drinking less, or more slowly will help stop the blackouts from happening, but every time I try that, I never even get buzzed. The point inbetween me being sober, and blacked out is so small it makes it hard stop myself.

How can I continue drinking and getting drunk, without blacking out?!

Apparently, being a danger to yourself an others is not a concern for you. You have drank so much that you have built up a high tolerance for alcohol. (Just because you don't feel buzzed does not mean your reflexes and cognitive powers are not impaired. Lay off the alcohol for a few weeks and your tolerance level will go down and you will become a cheap date once again.

Oh no, not another one! Once u start blacking out and needing more booze to get a "buzz" then u should have some idea that u have the beginnings of a drinking problem. U don't say how old u r, but seeing as how ur still at school (am I right in assuming high school, or r u at university?) u shouldn't be drinking to get drunk. I know ur gonna switch off now, because u won't like what I'm gonna say, but please, for ur own sake, seek help!
Recent studies show that the younger a person starts to drink the more likely they will become alcoholic. It breaks my heart to see so many kids going down the same destructive road that I took. Please go to an AA meeting tonight. U may not live to be in ur 30s if u don't. If ur still teenager then it may be even ur 20s that u won't live to see. Im not joking.

Sadly your question can only be answered one way. If you are unable to control your drinking enough to prevent a blackout your drinking is a bigger problem then you can admit at this time. The only way to avoid a blackout is to avoid the drink. There is a popular book at the library titled Alcoholics Anonymous, for your own research and education check it out and read it. You may find an answer to your question there. Good luck with the drinking without blacking out. I never succeeded until I stopped all together.

Obviously, you can't. Haven't the blackouts been a good indication that your body (including your brain which is surprisingly working) cannot take excessive alcohol consumption. Why do you have to get drunk? There's nothing wrong with having a few drinks and getting a good buzz. But you sound like my Grandma, who burned her wedding pictures when she was pissed at my Grandpa like 30 years ago and now she doesn't remember doing it. Turn a blind eye and ear to peer pressure and do what's right for your body. If you don't, you'll kill yourself or make yourself a vegetable in a coma somewhere because you screwed your mind and body over. I have faith in you, but you have to be committed to doing it. You can do it.

I think you already know the answer to this question and are hoping that someone will have a brand new answer. An answer your friends haven't given you already. You are drinking too much and on your way to being an alcoholic. You don't need alcohol to have a good time. Black outs are scary and I think you need to take a look at your self and your life.
Good luck to you. I am telling you the truth.

Of course most people are going to say "drink less" but if you're not ready to do that, that won't help at all. What I started doing after I couldn't remember most of the night was drink a glass of water between every couple drinks, I was able to get just as drunk, but remembered everything. (I knew a guy who used to fill his empty beer bottle back up with water and drink that, because he felt like a loser drinking water) but, whatever works, give it a shot!

You should change what you're drinking. Everyone reacts different with alcohol. I get sick if I drink Vodka.. So I drink either Rum or Tequila.

Patron silver tequila is a smooth drink. It nice with mixers or on the rocks.

Don't mix your drinks either. Stick with one.. Beer before liquor you've never been sicker... Liquor before beer you're in the clear.

Also.. Don't drink on an empty stomach.. If you eat your alcohol tolerance will go up.

Good luck & be careful

Grow up and stop drinking. A college kid was recently murdered here in Madison, WI. She drank too much and was easy pickings for some sicko. You have to take better care of yourself.
