I gauged my ears with a 14g taper two days ago. My left is infected, my right is fine. The tapers are still in, but I wanted to know if there was something else I could use to clean them, more effective than antibacterial soap, and acrylic friendly because i want to salvage the tapers.

You can get sea salt in any grocery store in the mini grinders, etc., - it is really important to clean out the gunk with that. Is your left ear the one you use for the phone? It may be irritated from that.

Call your piercer for the best advice.

Ok. First lesson: You are either infected, where you've got green discharge, a fever to the area, and you've been to a doctor and are on antibiotices....or its INFLAMMED and IRRITATED. If you've not been to the doctor, and have none of these symptoms, then you're not infected. Go to where you got the piercings; ask them how to care for it. Ears are forgiving. Where I work, we recommend Bactine, 3 times a day. Wash it twice with anti-bac soap, once in the AM, then before bed. But I can't tell you what to do because I didin't pierce you. Def. go to the doctor if you get green discharge, swelling and pain to where you can't touch your ear, or a fever to it....

First off they might not be infected just aggitated. Try getting som appropriate jewelry in (14g rings are perfect), and clean with regular table salt, or bactine as long as you don't have reactions to it. Over large jewelry can bump, and cause irritations. Good luck!

Soaps with no dyes or scents and warm water, or non-iodized table salt.
