Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love- John 4:7-8

This quote says love, and so, why is it that gay people are shunned?

To follow up on this, why do the passages saying God does not like gays override what God says about love? and finally, does god want us to hate more than love?

It is much easier to quote the Bible that to admit they are small minded bigots.
The Bible was also used to condemn interracial marriage and to condone slavery. Christians love to use the Old Testament to condemn homosexuality and then say the Old Testament no longer applies when they are shown passages that they do not follow.

There are no biblical passages that state that "God does not love gay people". God loves ALL of his children. Some people, however mistake love for the individual or individuals as "being in agreement with anything and everything that individual decides to do". That is NOT love. For example, if we LOVE someone, love will require the friend, who truly loves to prevent that person from taking their own lives if they are suicidal. We do not give a friend a rope to hang himself or close our eyes, just because they have chosen by their own judgment, to commit suicide. Love sometimes requires an honest sharing of factual information with someone even if one loses that person's friendship in the process. Likewise we who love are naturally motivated to try to prevent our loved ones from doing anything we know will be destructive or negative in their lives. Gay people should NEVER be shunned or mistreated because they are gay. However, all people should have the opportunity to hear every perspective of a lifestyle decision before they rush into it. Loving someone is not the same as giving that person a license to do ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING that they feel like doing in the "moment". A good parent will guide and direct his/her child-- not set him free at once, to embrace a lifestyle of violence or self-abuse. Sometimes people need "tough-love" and/or advice to gain self awareness. Real love must be demonstrated and Proverbs 27:5 states that "Open rebuke is better than secret love."

Good question,,,,

God loves all, but does not love everything we do to ourselves or one another. God's word also says He has "no pleasure in the death of the wicked." Ezekiel 33;11
Leviticus 20:13 says "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death,"
In Genesis 18:23, Abraham asked the angels "Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?" This verse isn't the only place where wickedness is met with punishment from God.
Any homosexual that cannot see the bible's clear stand against homosexuality is voluntarily blind, and too selfish to own up with God for forgiviness of this sin and beg for a change to be made in thier heart.
I am also against anyone condemning a person "to hell" as if they themselves are God based on any sin. The BIBLE condemns because it is the faultless word of God, and does not give permission to anyone to point a finger from thier own heart of hate. The bible verses being shared in the interest of truth and salvation, as I pray I have done to the best of my present ability, is more than enough.

God is no respector of persons. He loves gays just same as he does straight people. But the Bible is clear that homosexuality is aqn abomination to God. That means he hates the act of homosexuality. Simply put it is a sin. But it is a sin just like lies, stealing, etc.

God IS love. However, to be sure he is also a just God, and the day is coming when ALL who have sinned and have not accepted Jesus as Savior, will pay for their sins with their very eternal soul.

And No, God does not want us to hate, quite the opposite, we are to love as he has loved.

Gay people are shunned by people with free will who have no idea what it is like to be gay, and have those feelings. They feel they have a right to not like, just as you feel you have a right too like. People are basically taught from birth what their parents feel is right and wrong. Just like in some schools children are taught to hate Americans when they probably never even met one. And most of us were immigrants at one time of another. If we were all blind, then we wouldn't know what color was to prejudge one another. God, I feel doesn't like selfishness, to a point where you are not thinking of one anothers feelings before doing something. That someone else will pay for your actions, being inconsiderate. And sometimes, you just have to use your common sense of what is right and wrong.

Hate is never better than love, but I don't think gay is what it means.

Many believe that the bible has actually stated something like ''Homosexuality is an abomonation and those guilty must be'stoned." But I think that's not fair.

I have a friend that can't help to be gay. If you can't help it. then what do you do? LOL

I don't know what that verse of yours symbolises, but I really don't think it means love in sexual ways. I think it means love in family ways. Like mom, dad, sis, and bro kind of love.

Good luck in finding an answer. And get back to me about the abomination thing. I want to know if it's there. Thanx and I hope I've helped out. :)

It's funny to hear conservative Christians talk down about gay people. They say it says in the Old Testament that God doesn't like gay people. I find this interesting b/c the Old Testament is the Jews Torah & Jewish people have apparently had a long support of gay rights. Seems like Conservative Christians took this image about gay people & ran with it not knowing the full truth or concept.

Conservative Christians I say to you in the words of the great comedian Carlos Mencia: "Deet-De-Deet!"

God does not tell us to hate gays. He does not hate gays, and neither do I. He says homosexuality is a sin, and those who practice it will not go to heaven. He also says adultry is a sin, and lying, and stealing, and coveting, etc. He tells us to REPENT of the sin, and accept Jesus into our hearts as our Lord and Savior. If He didn't love us, he wouldn't tell us that. He would let us all die in our sin.

If you read I Cor 13, the passage on love it says that love does not rejoice with unrighteousness. True love will seek to do all it can to get homosexuals to repent of their sin and forsake it, just as any other sin.

"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God."- love everyone bc god loves everyone. "Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God" - if u luv than yk u r born from God, and no the devil, therefore yk God. "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love"- God is love, if u do not love u do not say tht u know God." Gays r shunned bc God says tht a man must b w/ a woman and tht it is frowned upon for the same sex to b together in tht manner. God does love everyone, even the gays, He jus dose not agree w/ their lifestyles. NO!! God says to love thine enemys and to prey for them, do not hate anyone. God loves everyone, the drunks, the adulterers, the drug addicts, but how can He love them if they do not live by His laws?? He will forgive u for those sins, He knows we r only human, and tht we will go astray. thts y He died for us. so tht we can have a way out. to b forgiven for our sins. hope this hlps. God bless.
