Don't forget the Coast Guard.

They're ALL the best. They just have different jobs.

United States Navy. I'm not American (I'm Canadian) but I can tell you from what I read in history, when you control the sea and air, you can control the world. Since the U.S. Navy encompasses warships, including aircraft carriers that can launch a number of different types of planes including the F/A role, mine laying, search and rescue, etc, this is indeed the best branch of the military. The key here is that no country can control its long borders along a coast without a navy, air force alone cannot do it. When America and Britain and Canada launched D-Day on June 6th 1944 against Nazi Germany, they did so with combined arms warfare, navy, army, air force, etc. It could be argued that America and Britain beat Germany hands down with the victory in the battle of the atlantic, where SONAR played a huge role as well as mobile escort carriers loaded with planes specifically designed to destroy the German submarines (U-Boats). With the battle won in the atlantic (with less and less tonnage being sunk, supplies could be properly distributed from America and a bit from Canada all the way to Britain and the rest of the war in Europe was history. Over in the Pacific where the United States fought Japan from Dec 1941 (Pearl Harbor) all the way to August 1945 (Atomic Bombs), the first word you need to know and practically the only word you should know about this theatre of war is NAVY. Without a navy, America was doomed against the Japanese. Without a navy, the Japanese couldn't have launched the deadly attack on Pearl Harbor. Furthermore, its worth nothing that it was F4F Wildcats (utterly inferior in most respects to Japanese Zero fighters) that won the day, and not the AIR FORCE or ARMY. The Navy provided all the elements needed for the USMC and the US Army to land ashore on Islands ranging from Guadalcanal in the Southern Pacific (near Australia) all the way to Islands like Okinawa and Iwo Jima off the Japanase coast. Without the Navy controlling the sea lanes, it was IMPOSSIBLE to win the war against the Japanese. Also, for the full lenght of the Cold War, it was the US Navy and Soviet Navy that came as close as eye-to-eye as you can think to starting a nuclear war. Luckily for the world, there was little blood shed around the globe compared to what MIGHT have happened if american or soviet ballistic missile subs launched salvo after salvo. Keep in mind also that both sides' Navies were the basic buffer zone that protected both of their homelands in a possible nuclear war. If there had been a full scale war between america and soviet union at any point between 1945-1991, chances are it would have taken place at sea, and not on the ground. So, there you have it, the US Navy is the best branch of the US military. Its impossible to wage war or prevent war without a Navy. The US Navy, whenever they present themselves off the coast of a totalitarian state (consider North Korea), just the mere sight of a huge aircraft carrier supported by dozens of support ships is daunting. Basically a warning sign, nothing else.

Depends on what you want. The Air Force and the Navy provide better technical training and better facilities for the troops. The Army and Marines provide better physical conditioning, but don't expect as much education. i am ex-Air Force and proud of it, but I think all the branches have something to offer, depending on what you want.

I will say this - education was a priority for me, and the AF or Navy was the best for that. I got several hundred college credits and 3 degrees while a friend of mine was struggling to get his Associate's Degree in the Army.

The Army is the -only- service that locks you in a job before you leave for basic, and puts it in writing.

Air Force, best quality of life, however they have a special program 'Blue to Green' to transfer you to the Army at the end of your enlistment (if you want) because you are not guaranteed to be able to re-enlist in the AF.

Navy, has the Nuke program if you score well enough for it.

Marines.. the few the proud.. the ones who still get trained by the US Army for Air Assault qualification.

The Army has more boats than the Navy, more aircraft than the Air Force, and the most jobs.

Check out all the services and see what the individual benefits are, but remember no matter what the recruiter says.. will they put it in writing!

There all a bunch of bull shi**ers. Each branch of the military does their own unique thing. If you like planes go into the Air Force, if you like water the Navy or Marines, if you like walking and nature and the idea of combat, join the Army. The fact is each branch serve very important purposes. I would recommend going to each of their web sites and then go and talk with a recruiter for each branch. Now mind you the recruiters are salesmen so they will unload some bull on you. I mean it's their job. But they can give you a picture of what it might be like and a some info about their group. Then all you have to do is sign up, but make sure you understand for how long you will be committed. I mean they may tell you, you can get a job doing one thing then once you are in they can always change their mind. Once you sign that paper, you are theirs for the amount of time you agreed to. So do some research and look into it carefully. Good Luck!! :)

well every one forgets Coast Guard but they are not the best. Marines are the best. Have you ever hurd on the news when they say 2 soldiers and 1 marine was killed to day in Irqa. They are diffrent and every one knows it.. THere traning is alot harder and longer then the other branches. When any military group is need for batle they are first in last out. so they are the best..

Tough choices.

Air Force takes better care of their people.

Marines are the toughest.

Navy has the most pranksters (personal experience)

Army has the most people so the most social.

The all have their ups and downs especially in advancment

I think ease of advancement is Army, Marines, Navy, Airforce

Navy hands down. I think we just have more common sense. I work on a Naval base with a bunch of Marines and they are just to gun ho for example I over heard a girl talking about baseball So I went up to her and ask "Hey are you a baseball fan." she said "Not really because I am a a Marine" I still don't understand

The Navy is the best, but that is because I was there. It really depends if you are going to be an officer or if you are going to join the enlisted ranks. Officer life for all services are pretty good, but I would rank the services in this order
Air Force
Coast Guard
Navy

for your enlisted career, try to get into the Navy's nuclear field or the cryptology field. I think that the services are best for enlisted members in the following order
Navy
Coast Guard
Air Force
Marine Corps
Army

The advancement (Pay Raises) are typically more often in the navy and coast guard. but then it depends on what job you are looking for. If you want information on my specific experience, feel free to email me...
