it can if you reduce the calories for too long and too low.
severely restricting the calories during the growth years can lead to permanent adverse changes in the endocrine system.
I would focus on eating as healthy as possible and you won't have to worry about calories. 90% of the foods that you consume should be whole foods and not processed.

i am 14, 5' 3" (i know, im a shorty) and weigh 98. personally i dont think you need to lose any weight, but if you wanna tone your abs there is this bicyle thing where you hold your body in a v-ish shape for one second then bring your left knee your right elbow, then go back to center and vice-versa. another thing you can do is crunches or sit-up and this thing call superman where you lay on your stomach and use your ab muscles to lift your legs and arms off the ground. good luck!

The people who say height is all genetic are talking nonsense. What, the reason the average Western man is practically a foot taller than his Victorian antecedents is because everyone went out and swapped their genes for better ones, is it? Nutrition builds healthy bones, healthy bones can afford a taller frame, longer levers, advantage. Simple. The more vitamins and minerals you can access via your diet, the better your chance of growing tall - and of living longer.

The way you choose to diet can change your growth.
You can still diet and grow taller at the same time. Even though you will be on a calorie restricted diet, you will grow as long you get all your essential nutrients in on a daily basis.

Nope..what you can do is to work on your core training..If you do yoga or Pilate's to strengthen your core muscles..it will support your torso properly which gives the appearance of being taller because your muscles will hold up your torso with better posture. When you have week core muscles..you will slouch more

if i were you, i would hold off on the dieting. just excersise and eat healthy foods. i dieted all throughout middle school, and i'm 5'8, but maybe i would be 5'9 or 5'10 if i didn't have eating problems. you can always tone up when your older, but you can't grow when you're older.
