I am a widow and have met a very nice man with whom we seem to be very compatible. The issue is my oldest daughter is getting married next month and the man will be my escort. He would like to wear a tuxedo. Is it appropriate for his tuxedo to match the wedding party's?

I think this is a question you need to have your daughter answer. Putting him in a tux is almost giving him 'family' status. If your daughter feels ok with it, then yes he can have a tux to match the wedding party in style, but I wouldn't have him exact. Like if the groomsmen are wearing a colored vest/cummerbund and tie combo, maybe put his in basic black. He should coordinate more like the Father of the Groom.

If your daughter feels strongly against it, then ask him to wear a simple suit. He could coordinate with your colors in his shirt and tie. This will make it more obvious he is your escort.

Don't start any family wars over this, it's not worth it.

Good Luck!

No. Unless this is a very formal black tie wedding where all the men will be in tuxedos . . . he should wear a nice suit, like the other guests will wear. He is not the bride's father, and he is not a member of the wedding party.

Check with the bride! If she doesn't mind then that would settle it. BUT if she would rather he wear something different, why not a dark suit? I would definitely be careful that his tux doesn't out shine the wedding party so something a bit understated would work well.

A friend of mine who recently was married had a lot of participants in her wedding she had ushers and groomsmen and the ushers wore nice suits and it really looked nice.

I am sure whatever you both wear will look great!

No tuxedo at all, it's not appropriate. And even if he were, it would NOT match the wedding party.
