it takes a good 2-3 weeks on a healthy and balanced diet to see measurable fat loss so a diet of soup and salad would be far less than optimum for fat loss. sure you may lose some water weight but once normal eating habits are resumed the weight will return.

science has proven time and time again that those who have the genetic predisposition for easy weight gain can not successfully manage the weight through the diet alone. there may be weight loss for weeks and/or months but eventually the metabolic rate will slow further and weight gain will occur.

the human body is not designed to be sedentary. a lifetime of inactivity will catch up to you eventually. our muscles are designed to be operated over the entire range of motion on a daily basis if this does not occur the endocrine system will respond accordingly.

If, by "salad", you mean iceberg lettuce and bottled dressing, you could lose weight. But you'd be hurting yourself in other ways. There isn't much nutrition there.

On the other hand, if your salad contains a mixture of many vegetable items, including protein-containing beans, vitamin-packed leaves, stems, flowers, fruits, and roots (e.g. spinach, celery, broccoli, tomatoes, and onions), and maybe some sunflower seeds for crunch, you're looking at something good, and good for you. The sheer bulk of salad fills you up, so you are full with less calories consumed... which can contribute to weight loss.

Soups are good, too, providing they are clear and vegetable-rich. They offer the same good stuff as salad, except in a hot form. And the water in the soup also helps fill you up with less calories consumed.

Are you substituting these foods for the typical McHeartAttack burger and Exxon Valdez fries? Then you are definitely doing your body a favor. I can't guarantee you will lose weight solely by food substitutions, but you're certainly helping your body to go in the right direction.

yeah probably as long as its not cream based soup and the salads are covered in dressing :D try to go for broth based soups and fat free if not no dressing

yup.
but when you eat normally again, you will gain it back and then some, trust me, been there, done that.
if you want to loose weight fast, cut out ALL meat and sugary junk food. i lost over 10 pounds in one month that way!
good luck and stay committed!
