not believing at all?

More times than you have, surely.

Seriously, I've been through many sects of christianity, attended their churches and social events and come p with the same conclusion every time:

Jesus was a great guy and had some good things to say, but the vast majority of people calling themselves hristians are further from living the christian life than I am - by a very lng shot.

Even Jesus would refuse to be associated with those people.

I'd love to say it was in one spot, but I've been in churches of different denominations in several states, big cities and small towns. If being christian means being like those people, then I choose to not be christian.

I have my morals and standards, after all.

Are you actually asking whether athiests have considered giving up their need for logic and rationality in order to believe, like compliant sheep, the words of a book written by men 2000 years ago, that has, since then, continued to be used by other men to control the small-brained masses?

hhmm...what a struggle.

Many of us don't believe in God for fundamental reasons. It would be impossible to convert because of the logic we have built our understanding of existence on. It would be like trying to convince ourselves 1 + 1 = 3

There is a God but sadly, one which we mankind have chosen not to have faith in, the truth gets dismissed as the devil's work. The Bible is simply a collection of inaccurate stories passed of as holy work. Organised religions would want you to think it is the real deal. If God is perfect in all creations, the least of all things God would do is to have men write a book about God and believe so. Why can't God communicate through us directly, which he has done, which we have ignored as crazy/imagination - our inner thoughts. God gave us the ability to think, not follow. God created us in the likeness of him and therefore as equals, not followers. God doesn't need our worship or service or obedience. What kind of "perfect" God would that be. For goodness sake, "Christians", please find out how our bible evolved before you start quoting it. www.bidstrup.com/bible.htm

Converting to what?

Belief in Hera?
Belief in the FSM?
Belief in faeries, leprechauns, and unicorns?
Belief in the Tooth Fairy?

Any one of those things would be preferable to the Christian God or Allah. And why, exactly, should we have to convert to anything? What's so wrong with us the way we are? Don't you think an omniscient god would see right through that anyway?
Why can't you people just let us believe whatever we want to?

I convert a couple of times a year. If I'm running low on funds and I want a party I convert or get baptized or whatever and they give me presents and throw me a big bash. They get live bands and everything. And its free.

Convert to what? Should we pick a religion out of a hat? And having done so, why would any particular belief or religion be so superior to the belief that there isn't a god? Atheism has exactly the same value as a faith in any particular brand of God.

Why convert? I'm totally happy living my life free of delusions.

By the way: I was once a Christian. It's by studying that faith that the ball toward Atheism started rolling.

why do so many people think being an Atheist is a burden or a bad thing? I've considered the concept of a god but it doesn't seem logical, there is no evidence and the more I think about it the more I am convinced most religions were invented to keep people in line when there is no real order or control

No. I would have no reason or desire to do such a thing. You obviously don't understand what an atheist is. We don't believe in gods or religion, so why on earth would we convert? Do you think that we do not mean it?

atheist

The Atheist Bible, it could be said, has but one word: "THINK." - Emmett Fields
