Becoming a Christian is a choice. You are not born into it perse. Christian parents have the same responsibility parents of other faiths do, to bring thier children up in the religion but each person chooses to become a Christian.
As for me if I had a child that chose another religion I would love them just like I did the day they were born. Your child is a gift from God, not your possession. I would hope that I can respect thier choices. I would pray to God for guidance if I has problems doing that.

I would wonder about my own ability to conduct my home in a Christian manner and extend the purpose of my child's baptism to the faith I was trying to bring them up in. To me this is what baptism is all about, and the meaning of "entire households" being baptized. My authority would prevail though until my child(ren) were living on their own. My house is not Muslim, or Buddhist, etc. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

I'm not a christian. But I do want to say that my father allowed me to discover and make up my own mind when it came to religion. He loves me no matter what religion and it is my life. I have to do what feels right. He knows and accepts this. I think this was one of the greatest gifts my father ever gave me.

I was raised Catholic, but am probably more "Spiritualist" nowadays than anything else.
I would support them in (almost) anything they picked for themselves, unless it was extremely detrimental to themselves or the world. I think the only religions I might disapprove of would be:
Scientology (based on money and lies)
Right wing Evagelical Chrisitianity (based on hatred and bigotry)
Radical Islam (same as above)
Satanism(based on rebellion and selfishness)
BUT----no matter what they chose I would never stop loving them. Never. :)

Well, mine isn't really following anything at this point, but he is 24. As long as he was in the house, there wasn't any discussion. I am not happy, because it is his choice, but I do pray for him.
