I am currently doing a really intense tennis camp that lasts from 8:00am to 5:00pm. When I wake up in the morning, I am naturally very sore with muscle aches and what not. I have three more days of the camp still left.
There are a lot of medications out there for muscle pain, wrist pain, etc, but I want to know, in your experience, what is the best pain medication out there for muscle soreness and small joint pain caused by an intense amount of exercise?

The absolut best combination I have found is 400mg of ibuprofen and 500mg of tylenol. It works as well as prescription muscle relaxers for easing the pain.

You are absolutely not a bad person for taking pain medication. Sometimes it's really necessary. Have I actually had something other than medication heal the pain? Yes. Just last week I had a bad migraine brewing as our community choir practice started. As I sang the beautiful, complex music of the Messiah and the baroque song in German we were working on, the pain totally went away and stayed away. Whether it was the diversion or the music itself I don't know for certain. I just know it worked. I am able to "think away" some pain as well, usually more minor pain. I've found that pressure point massage therapy has healed much muscle pain I've had. I've also had amazing experiences with prayer healing the pain - and the illness or injury that caused the pain. For some types heat takes it away while for other kinds ice packs work better. I have also had many times when the only thing that would take care of it was medication. Do what works for you, and what you feel comfortable using and don't worry about what anyone else says. That's between you and your doctor.

Ibuprofen or acetamenophen are great otc choices but the best things for muscle soreness is cyclobenzaprine (flexeril). It will relax your muscles so they won't be so stiff. The downside is it causes drowsiness and slows your reaction time but may work if you take it at night before you went to bed that way you would be ready to go in the morning. Speak with your physician.

I have found for basic muscle aches Alleve works the best or perhaps Tylenol. You don't want to take a muscle relaxer or anything too strong because you won't be able to participate in the rest of the camp.
Hope you feel better!

Aleve or motrin for the inflamation and Absorbine Jr to rub on your muscles on the outside. Make sure to stretch and warm-up each day before jumping into the game. Also, warm baths do help. It will get better!

This is going to sound silly.
Several years ago I read in a healing quarterly about a man who was a healer and a writer. When an elderly friend of his asked what she could do about a painful hip, he replied " Kiss your hand, place it on your hip and say "I love my hip"". I laughed when I first read it, but it has worked for me, 90% of the time (does not work for me on headaches). I have told many others of this and it has worked for them as well (at least the ones I talked to later).
It does not hurt to try. Cheaper than asprin. Let me know if it works for you.

My personal choice would be Aleve. It's really good for muscle pain and joint pain.

try saoking in a tub with epsom salts after your workouts and take ibuprofen (aka motrin/advil) before, during and after. a grown adult can take up to 600-800mg 4 times a day...but it goes by your weight so follow directions on the box....say you were 100lb...then you should only take 2 at a time.
