Just eat what you have been eating that has not caused any problems during your training in the past. Do not eat anything new the night before or the day of the race that you have not tried in training.
Yes hydrating a few hours before the race is good. Just use proper judgment and don't over drink to where you will have to use the bathroom while it is time to run. If your urine is clear you are well hydrated.
Good luck. And most importantly...have fun!

Definitely get off the treadmill! You need to know what it feels like to run 3.1 miles on the street.
If the race is at 8pm, have a SMALL pasta dish and water for lunch, then a banana and no more than 6 ounces of electrolyte replacement drink at about 6pm.
Get to the race location early and stretch, then walk for 5 minutes, then stretch some more. Hit the port-a-pottie and you're ready!
For your first race start slower than you think you can run. The excitement of the crowd can cause you to go out too fast. Slow down and have fun.
Good luck!

first get off the treadmill and hit some trails. If you are just getting into running then do short runs like 25 or 30 minutes or 3 to 4 miles a day, Nothing major Because you might scare yourself away from this sport. Start drinking water now but don't over do it. eating pasta the day before is better than most meals. starting now until your race think about the race and picture yourself finishing, if you want to win then picture yourself winning. its good motivation. race day drink water or sports drinks and don't eat anything heavy. stick with oranges or bananas, maybe even dry cereal. get comfortable shoes and enjoy the race. (STRETCH 2 TIMES A DAY FOR 30 MINUTES)

Run on the streets, not a treadmill. Eat normally and drink a few extra glasses of water. Make your last meal about 5 hours before the race, then only banana if you feel hunger.
Expect to start out slower so you don't die out too soon.
Stretch well.
Good Luck

How out of shape are you? have you ever confer with a doctor if doing it incredibly is a stable theory? If particular then what you incredibly ought to do is commence out with a prepare run. attempt and do the full 5k. it incredibly is in simple terms in simple terms over 3 miles. Dont bypass all out in simple terms see how far you get. in case you could fininsh it commence walking a mile then run a mile then walk a mile for the 1st 4 days then take a time without work. then walk a mile and run 2 miles and walk a mile for the subsequent 4 days. take a time without work then walk a mile run 3 walk a mile for the subsequent 4 days take a time without work. at this element you should be 5 days faraway from the race do yet another 5k at a superb secure %. take a time without work walk a million run 2 walk a million the day till now the race walk run run a million and walk run this final preparation day must be carried out on the incredibly course in case you recognize the course. get a stable nites relax and eat a stable dinner the nite till now. pasta is a stable pre race dinner..different than that stable success...

running on a treadmill is different from running on the road. try running on the road during one of your practice sessions so you get the feel. load up on carbo in the morning and drink plenty of fluids but do not drink too much two hours before the race or you'll feel the urge to urinate while running. pace yourself during the run. if this is your first time, enjoy your run. good luck.

always dring your 8 servings of water/fluids, but the day of the race drink just water (no acidic juices) but not too much right before or else it will make you feel sick/get cramps or make you have to pee and try eating a bagel for breakfast, salad/soup for lunch and an early/light dinner
good luck!!

Drink tons of water before but not so much that it will be sitting in your stomach while you're running. Also a small amount of Gatorade will help you energy and protein or a small salty snack will help.
