How do I get my dog's ear to stand up?

I have a doberman pinscher that is 9 months old. His ears were cropped 6 months ago and one of them will not stand on its own. The vet won't give me an answer and has practically abandoned me. What it looks like to me is that the cut that was made on the ear that won't stand up doesn't have enough cartilage on the side of the ear. If anybody needs more info just ask.

I thank you all for your answers. I have been continuously taping but it still doesn't stand. I will continue to do that but I was hoping to find another way but other than repeat surgery I geuss it won't get fixed. To some of you, no I did not mutilate or abuse the dog or whatever else you might think of with ear cropping. It's a doberman and that is how it is. To everyone else thank you for your concerns and I will continue to tape the ear.

You have to keep taping them constantly.. You tape the ears for 5 or 6 days.. SMELLING them DAILY to make sure that nothing bad is going on.. Take the ears down, clean them thoroughly, and retape the ears once they are dry.. You must keep the ears taped, you cannot allow the dog to sleep on untaped ears.. You cannot feel sorry for the dog, if you want the ears up, you must tape them.. They must be taped in the position you want them to be when they are done.
It can take up to a year to stand sometimes.. If you got them cropped at 12 weeks of age, that's pretty late, it's likely to take you longer than it would have had you gotten them done when they are supposed to be done.. 7-9 weeks of age.. Keep them taped and don't give up.

I used to work for a vet that cropped ears (and I HATED it). It is too late for them to stand without surgical help, and even then it might never stand. Cropping is a purely cosmetic procedure and no vet can ever guarantee the outcome. You should never have stopped taping them as a pup until they stood properly--this is the biggest mistake people make. I know that some places make ear implants to help them stand, but I wouldn't put my dog through that. Just enjoy your dog for who he is and forget about his floppy ear.

i would assume this isn't a show dog, if it is you should contact a lawyer! if he is a family dog, i wouldn't worry about it, however, i would definitely consider finding another vet!!!!
