Someone told me that it's bad to drink orange juice because it contains too much acid. I drink it everyday because I thought it was good for me because of the Vitamin C and all that good stuff. So is the stuff about too much acid true?

Juice in any form is not the best for you. Take a look at just about any juice container and you will see this word "pasteurized." That means they super heat the juice to sterilize it. What that also does is cook out many of the important nutrients you want from juice, and leave you with WAY too much sugar. Vitamin C is good for you, but you should eat oranges instead of drinking OJ. You get back the vitamins and minerals that burned off in the pasteurization process and you will feel fuller with fewer calories. One orange will give you enough Vitamin C for the day. Drink water instead of juice. Most juices have just as much, if not more, sugar as soda.

There is low acid Orange Juice available. Like everything else it is good in moderation. It can cause Acid Reflux, if you drink to much of it, and to protect your teeth sip through a straw. A glass or two a day should be adequate. Yes , there is something about OJ that tastes so good, and makes you want another glass full of it. Don't forget there is more to Oranges than OJ . How abut Orange Marmalade ? and Mandarin Oranges in Jello? Orange or Lemon Cake? Or a sweet Potato and Orange Casserole..........

drinking too much of anything is never good. 1-2cups with breakfast is sufficient for vitamin c and other nutrients. the fact is that orange juice is hardly just the juice of oranges. today's orange juice is jam packed with added sugar making it unhealthy. the better way to get vitamin c is to eat an orange or two with breakfast, that way you avoid the excess sugar. as far as the acid thing goes that will only affect you as you get older and is more likely depending on if stomach ulcers are chronic in your family tree. they do sell a low acid form of orange juice though, try that if you are really worried. you should be fine though.

Orange juice is very high in sugar and rapidly raises blood sugar levels. If you are going to drink is, drink the kind with pulp or after eating something high in fiber and protein. OJ is healthy, but too much of anything can have bad effects.

I don't think that a few glasses a day is bad. In fact, I think that is probably a really good thing to do. Now if oj is all you ever drink you may have a problem with acid reflux, heart burn, etc. I get heartburn sometimes when I drink oj, but I love it and I just take a tums or zantac.

Having a glass of OJ once a day is not too much. You may want to have a different type of juice once in while just for a change to spice up your life and routine!

Orange juice's acidity will not destroy vitamins and other sups. The gastric juice in the stomach is much more acidic and it will destroy supplements that are meant to pass through the stomach intact and become active in the intestines such as digestive enzymes or acidophilous [sp?] and so a stomach acid suppressor such as Prilosec needs to be used in conjunction

If you drink a glass a day it's fine. Yea it's good for you.

but if it's the only thing you drink it's not so good because it contains a lot of sugar too.

I do know the acid is bad for the enamel on your teeth. Drink it with a straw so it doesn't touch the front of your teeth. It could be bad for your stomach because of the acid but you would have to ask your doctor about that.
