Exactly correct. Why are you refrigerating them? The shelf life is figured on room temperature. Ref. is a myth.

One problem with putting batteries in the freezer is that you will have to wait until they warm-up so that they will be fully effective. Also, if installed cold, they can draw in moisture and result in some condensation inside the equipment.
There is some debate on whether the cold-storage idea is really effective, anyway.
And yes, if you wrap small batteries in foil they will discharge using the metal foil as a circuit. And if you carry them in your pocket with loose change, you can also get dead batteries and sometimes a hot seat.

Tin foil is a conductor of electricity. It is better to leave the batteries in their original container kept in the freezer for storage 'til needed.
