it is not uncommen at all for 3 year olds to be wearing diapers.

Kids generally potty train anywhere from 2 1/2 years until 5 years old. So it isn't unusual for a child to be in diapers at 3 years old. Usually though, girls will potty train at a younger age than boys, boys will push the 5 year old mark where girls will push the 2 1/2 year old mark.

I wouldn't be overly concerned that your little sister is still in diapers but you can always help her to potty train by taking her to the bathroom with you and when she asks, which sooner or later she will, then tell her why you sit down on the toilet and what you are doing. Explain it to her in terms that she will understand. Tell her that it's better to not have to wear wet diapers and that once she stops doing it she will be able to wear big girl panties with little bows and lace and such on it and then she will be a big girl just like you are.

Potty training can be as easy or as difficult as you want to make it, with time and patience your sister will be out of those diapers sooner than you expect.

Good Luck.

If she's not potty trained or at least attempting to be potty trained, then YES. She SHOULD be in diapers. Pull-ups don't work if the child has no interest in going potty in the first place. If she's working on potty training, then pull-ups would be more helpful than diapers. If she's fully potty trained, then she should be in "big girl" undies. A child will potty train when they are good and ready. You can't force it. You can encourage, but not force. The harder you try to MAKE a child potty train, the more resistant they'll be. There, I think all your bases are covered.

I know this can be very frusterating for every one involve, but you may need to talk to her and ask her if she is a big girl, and if there are big girl things she likes to do, such as go with you on bike rides or somthing, then tell her you have to use the potty first, All children will do things on their own. We have been trying for almost a year and a half to get my step daughter to potty train, right before she turned two, well her mother didnt start untill recently, well while she was with us, we treated her like a big girl and spend loads of time with both kids, we have them every other week, well she went to my moms house and just decided that she was a big girl and started using the bath room, didnt as for any help or any thing, even though you still have to wash her and what not??? ..

I potty trained my daughter when she was nearly two and I thought she was very young (maybe too young) to train. However, she proved me wrong because using the Potty Stool http://www.thepottystool.com she was trained in less than 2 weeks. I was skeptical the stool would make a difference but I never would have guessed how well it works!

I realized later that my daughter really wanted to imitate what she saw adults doing and was very determined to mimic correct toilet use.

This really is the greatest thing to happen to potty training. I like that I don't have to use or clean a floor potty and I love that my kids are safe and never have to touch the toilet with their hands! My kids just get right up to the toilet on their own.

The best part is that kids use it for years. Hope this helps you.

Every kid is different and for lots of reasons kids that age could still be in diapers! For those people who are thumbs down happy! Not every child can be expected to be potty trained at 3 yrs old! My son almost passed from bacterial and viral meningitis! He is moving at his own pace!!!!

Consistancy is vital. Put her at the potty quite often. Like as soon as each and every thirty mins to start with then wean all the way down to each and every hour after which each and every two or three till she is competent to inform you she has to head. Make a BIG creation while she does cross within the potty LOTS of compliment! If she does have an twist of fate no issues. Don't get mad or punish her. Just say anything like "We must wash the entire pee germs off" or anything to that outcome. I permit my daughter recognize that everytime. She was once wholly potty knowledgeable by way of 17 months. Although on infrequent occations she might rainy her mattress. I have a 17 month ancient boy and he needs NOTHING to do with sitting at the toliet. He might flush matters down all day however no means is he getting on LOL Good success!

some kids are still not ready to be trained at 3, give her time. My son was 4 1/2 before he was 100% diaper free.

Everyone potty trains at different speeds. She'll come around when she's ready.
