It's a saying that women tend to use to take the blame off of themselves. The relationship is usually over and they need some way to pretend that they weren't the messed up one in the relationship. She states that she "didn't fall for him" meaning that she didn't like him or fall in love with him. "He tripped me" means that he did something to make her interested. He threw a curve ball when she expected a slider. The curve ball caught her off guard, but interested her in some way.
