What is your opinion about use of credit cards and convenience cards? Would you worry about theft or privacy issues?

Theft and privacy are always issues, whether it is with credit and convenience cards, checks or providing your real name and address online or to anyone anywhere. (yes, I am a little paranoid). But, you can't let it stop you in your tracks.

One way to catch problems fast is to review every line on your statement within a couple days of its delivery. A co-worker attended a conference in New York. When her next statement arrived, it had a charge for Paris, France. She called the credit card company and the charge was removed immediately.

Another preventative is to report a lost or stolen card the minute you discover it gone.

Welp, the privacy and theft issues is something that comes with the territory. Be worried about it..no..Ish happens ..if it does you take care of it asap. The convenience is what we ultimately pay for. i wouldn;t use a credit card though...you always end up paying more than what you are supposed to have anyway..its like a bad, plastic loan in your wallet.

Yes, especially the 'convenience cards`.
Their whole purpose is data mining and you have no control over the use of the data.
The whole 'ease of use` business is designed to cause you to overspend and be stuck paying interest.
Have one debit card, if you must, and keep track of it like a checkbook.
Also remember that the banks get a cut of every card transaction.
You can save a lot in quite a few places by pulling out a card and then asking if there's a 'discount for cash`.

I never worry about identity theft when I use my cards...if you keep good records and do business with good companies you shouldn't have anything to worry about. I think my life would fall apart without my credit cards!!!

No. You dont have to pay if its not your charge. This has happened to me before. Someone stole my credit card number and bought some stuff online. They did it in florida and since I am in Texas the credit card company new it wasnt me.

You have to be careful, but that is true with all other forms of payment. If you have a checkbook or cash, it is still possible that it will get stolen. So as long as you are careful and carry only the cards you need, it should be safe.

It will be good as long as you keep check on whats being charged and payment and also shredd your information frequently.
