Well, don't assume that all "bad" people are the same level of bad.

There are degrees, you know.

Satan is a tragic figure only because it's easier to get more, uh, converts that way.

But if Satan's as bad as the song says, he's a real jerk. Either he was involved in some bad things or just stood there doing nothing...not cool, man.

Not cool.

Think of a prison: there are criminals, and then there are...criminals. Some are far worse than others.

And they're all the time trying to stab each other with shivs.

There's a continuum to these things.

no because it was Satan who led me down the path of hatred in the first place.
The fact of the matter is this - Satanists believe that Lucifer is portrayed in a negative light and all religions including Judaism, Islam, Christianity and so on,(basically any religion which believes in Satan in all his evil glory) portray him as evil, where as in reality he isn't. If this was true then i would feel sorry for him, because the world unjustifiably blames the worlds mishaps on him, however as a religious believer i think he is evil and if i stray from the right path then obviously it's satan that led me there. However i don't make a big deal out of him, since i also believe in free-will

First, I don't believe in him. However, judging by his portrayals by religions and popular culture, I feel sympathy for him. Okay, he made one mistake of hubris and wanted to rule heaven. That was ages ago, though, so he's getting punished too severely. I also would not blame him for people being in hell as churches like to teach. I would blame the god that creates hell in the first place. Satan is just another victim of the wrathful god. I've also heard that all atheists are unknowingly servants of the prince of darkness. Based on what I see, I'd say his servants are much more likable than many spokespeople for organized religion. I can't see characters as being pure evil or pure good. Reality is too complex. Most issues of morality fall in the gray areas. Some good reading material on this subject are Paradise Lost by Milton and Letters from the Earth by Mark Twain.

i feel sympathy for anyone who believes in the devil but i do get your point i don't think if Satan existed i would think he was a nice bloke but if i thought everyone hated me i would feel empathy with him - as it is I'm too long in the tooth to care what anyone especially religious people think about me.

I usually questioned why we run from honesty merely to punch the devil interior the face saying it wasn't me. even with the undeniable fact that, having examine this music i think led to to place up this passage. Romans financial ruin 10. 6 however the righteousness this is of religion speaketh in this clever, Say no longer in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (this is, to convey Christ down from above:) 7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (this is, to strengthen Christ lower back from the lifeless.)

i dont have sympathy for the devil,
did he when he tempt Eve and caused so much pain ever since. He is the reason for pain in child birth. He is reponsible for sin in general. He is the reason why the world has devil worshippers.I feel sympathy for Jesus Christ when people nailed him to the cross and done those horrible stuff to him. People betrayed him and God, but they still forgave those who repented and wanted to be in the kingdom of God.

No sympathy from me for 'it'...the lord of the flies !!! Gad, how can anyone study history and etymology i.e. beezlebub and not be repulsed !!

My Bible has several verses in it where God talks about the fate of the evil one. And it's not pretty. ...covered with dung and worms....trampled like a corpse...your name will be wiped out of the universe's memory....you will go down to sheol and be with the captains of industry and world leaders - who will say.."you are just one of us" 'ugh'...And...my favorite:

"Will you say I am god; in the presence of your slayer !!!"

i dont feel sympathy for him but mick jagger might. you might enjoy renting the movie "gimme shelter," which chronicles the 1969 altamont rock festival.

it is my all time favorite documentary with not to be missed cameo performances by jerry garcia, grace slick, melvin belli and sonny barger.

parental guidance note: a murder is committed on camera as a kid with a pistol is stabbed in the back as he is about to shoot jagger.
