I was always mad when i couldnt- but i found out when i was older why i couldnt on my own. Just seeing how my friends turned out made me trust the wisdom of my parents.

well i for one watched R-rated movies when i was about 4 or 5, and let me tell you- stuff like people bleeding or dying in front of you which has happened to me doesnt freak me out, i dont have nightmares, and i dont curse. I live a good life, i still go to church, and have a well paying job. The thing is when parents let children wath R movies they dont watch them with them and tell them the things that are real and the things that are just plain bogus. The reason a child isnt supposed to wath them is they at that age supposedly cant determine whether or not this is real or fake. In todays society parents dont talk to their children enough- making them suceptable to seeing violence with guns on tv and believeing that their best friend will come back or something.

In my personal opionion parents need a severe beating when the child says "well i saw them do it on t.v. and i didnt know better"
But r rated movies should be watched with compenant adults who themselves can deciefer right from wrong.

Yeah; that makes me kind of mad sometimes, but I really do try to see it from their point of view. On some subjects, like R movies, I just think they're being naive and parent-like, but sometimes I can actually see how they see it as doing the right thing. Like maybe going on a walk with a 16-year-old guy at dusk that they don't know may be a little scary for a parent to let their child do. I know; I am frustrated a ton of the time at my parents: it's just part of being a kid/teenager. I love watching movies like Ferris Bueler's Day Off (don't worry: it's PG-13) that show kids rebelling. Good luck and try to stay on their good sides; it'll all come back to you in the end!

heckkkkkkk yea!! they r parents! there job is to limit us. it gets on my last freakin nerve sometimes, but what 2 do? my parents dont let me watch R movies, go 2 the mall with my friends alone, or even be outside walking around my neighborhood after dark, (and i live in a gated community!)

look, im 14, a pretty good student, and dont get in much trouble at home or at school and they STILL dont let me do these things. there are somethings kids my age do that i have no interest in, but there are others i wish i could do. but rules are rules. good luck, and if ur parents arent really strict u could try making deals like: if they r with u, can u see it? or if they see it in advance and approve it can u c it? or whatever. but u r defiantly not alone....

AMEN!! I don't have an answer but, I wanted to say that I agree 100%. I have kids ranging from 6-15 years old... they have no business having access to social networking sites. It is for adults and should be approached as such. I constantly worry that someone's child/children will come across one of my posts, ending in a nasty confrontation between myself and angry parents. It's nonsense.

No, because usually parents know what they are doing and are only trying to help you. Watching rated R movies are of course something they probably don't want you to do because maybe they think you aren't mature enough or something. Well it really depends on how old you are anyways, I do not really get upset with them for not letting me do something as silly as that.

Well how old are you, are you old enough to watch R movies, and if not do not be up set with your parents, they may be saving you from a lot of thing that you will not know about, until they sit down an explain life to you, don't worry you self. try doing thing that your age call for.

Movies are rated R for a reason.
I think it's ok for teens to watch R movies and play M games depending on what's in it, but not 5 year olds

Yeah, my parents took the ability of my "family image" away...Mom ust died about two weeks ago and Dad has been in jail for 8 felonnies...

My Grandma has a back disorder, so she has to be in bed most of the time, Grandpa has mental problems and ADD...I'm the one who dose everything around the house...So, Techniclly, I don't have much of a social life, if that counts,

Well my boys were forever telling me that "everyone else" could do/wear something or other (it wasn't true!) and I always told them that I didn't care what "everyone else" did or were allowed by their parents to do they had to do as *I* said because that was the way *our* Family did things.
Did they whine and moan? - yes they did but today they understand that I was doing my best for them and nine times out of ten I was *right* - and as *adults* they now realise that.
Best wishes,
Joan.

I've been living away from my parents for quite a few years now, so luckily no, I'm not upset with anything they won't let me do.
