"lets pretend to date, and see what people say" Now, does she like me? She was my best friends girlfriend for about 8 months. he cheated on her, but we are still good friends. they don't talk at all. whats going on? please help.

Sounds like bad news to me! She sounds immature and insecure and maybe trying to use you to make someone jealous, or worse.........

She probably likes you, but isn't sure about dating you. She's probably worried that you're too much like your friend and will cheat too. So she wants to "pretend" so that she can get to know you first. By pretending to date, you'll both still have to avoid seeing other people to maintain the illusion. That way she's got you to herself, but hasn't put her heart on the line just yet. If you're interested in this girl, take a shot, but take it slow. If you do find things going well, and want to date for real, it's probably a good idea to mention it before she does.

I would not DO that if I were you... she is using YOU to get back at HIM!! So when and if something starts up between her and the ex again, she can always have the back up to say ' Oh we were just pretending ' .... DONT mess with someone like that....Move on... if you and your best friend ARE best friends, this 'pretending' could ruin a real friendship instead of what she is trying to do... There is something there. Wherever it goes is up to you. Take her on a real date like you would another girl. Go in to kiss her. If she refuses say, "let's pretend to brake up."

There are two things that could be going on here...She could like you and is just using that as a way to see if you like her....or she may be just trying to fool with your head...either way she sounds kind of immature. If you like her, then next time she asks you to pretend to go out, just ask her why dont you really go out instead of faking it? If you arent interested, then tell her straight out that you dont want to hurt your guyfriend and that is really childish....

I agree with some of the above answers, get away quick. She is just using you to her advantage and she will toss you away when she is done! Friend or not. Trust me, as embarassed as I am, I did this to a very close and dear friend and it hurt him very deeply! Thankfully, he also forgave me. You will get hurt, don't play this very dangerous game.
