either oral thrush (candida or fungal infection) or vitamin b deficiency.

ORAL THRUSH - yeast infection

- One of the symptoms to oral thrush is that the sides (corners) of the mouth crack which makes it painful and hard to open the mouth.
Does your tongue look 'different', is it white and furry looking, does it have red spots or yellow spots? any of these could be an indication of oral thrush. Even though, the cracked corners of the mouth could indicate it alone.

To treat oral thrush nystatin (only available on prescription) or the over the counter med called daktarin - an orange flavoured gel which is applied on the affected area. If these meds dont clear it up then it's possible to be Vit B deficiency.

VITAMIN B DEFICIENCY
Symptoms include;

- altered or reduced sense of touch
less sensitivity to vibration (inability to feel the vibrations of a tuning fork)

colour blindness

tingling in the hands and feet

muscle weakness

difficulties with walking and coordination

psychological symptoms such as memory loss, confusion and depression.

Vit B deficiency can also lead to ANAEMIA.

symtoms;

The first symptoms will be tiredness and palpitations (awareness of heartbeat).

Shortness of breath and dizziness (fainting) are also common.

If the anaemia is severe, it can result in angina (chest pain),

headache and leg pains (intermittent claudication).

Red, sore tongue and mouth.

Weight loss.

Diarrhoea.

Why do the corner of my mouth sometimes split and get sore?

If you get salt in the corner of your mouth, that can also cause this. Its the same thing, dehydration. make sure you wipe your mouth well after eating and drink lots of water. Use lip balm and if it persists, see a doctor.

This used to happen to my children and to me also. I finally learned it is when you do not get enough vitamin D.

If you do not eat green vegetables daily, get a bottle of D vitamins and take them daily. It will heal the cracks in one or two days.

Do you use a whitening toothpaste? This can cause excessive drying and irritation in some people. Try switching to something without whiteners in it.

You could be extremely dehydrated, and that's your body's way of signal to you to drink water.

Use plenty of lip balm and drink ONLY water...

If your lips are also often chapped, you could be dehydrated. I started drinking more water, and it really does help my lips!
