so i have an amex[american express] card && recently i have checked my online account && for the credit section on the bottom it said -$1950.00.
then the activity due in full was -$1500.00. the charges for the month was $379.00
do i have to pay anything and why is the credit in negative?

Credits are generally shown as negatives. On your bill, think of it as negative dollars that you owe.

No, you don't have to pay anything. It's showing that they owe YOU $1500+. Some companies will just let it sit there until you spend that much, and decrease your credit balance each month by the amount of the charges. Other companies will send you a check for the credit balance.

Most companies indicate on the statement something like "NO PAYMENT DUE AT THIS TIME" when you have a credit balance.

This is NOT good at all! You don't owe anything, and you can only hope this was a "refund" or a credit to a past purchase. Otherwise you have made a mortal credit error. It's called "forced credit line increase". That's where people pay more than they owe, and credit card companies HATE that almost as bad a being late. Call and find out what is happening ASAP.

Someone gave you a credit or over paid. If you pay your bill online, Make sure you didn't make a $1950.00 dollar payment instead if a $19.50 payment.
