I gave birth on september 10, 2001 with my daughter and a week later I weighed 12 pounds less than I did when I got pregnant. Weighed 130 before giving birth and 98 after..... My doctor said everything was normal and that there was no cause for alarm. I also just didn't feel like eating either. and didn't breast feed.

I gave birth 9 days ago and have lost 23 lbs so far without doing anything extra. In fact, I have been eating like a big ole' hoss.I know that most of it was fluid, baby, placenta, etc.I have 10 lbs left and I hope to lose it all. With my first, I didn't lose it this fast, but I had no appetite either. I also suffered from insomnia, too. I was too preoccupied with my baby, too stressed and tense about making sure he was breathing in the middle of the night, not hungry from eating every 2 hours, etc. LOL After a few wks, my first son regulated his feedings and slept better so it got easier. The second one has been alot smoother.

Not really. I lost 20 pounds by the time my daughter hit 2 weeks old. But, for me, I've only lost 12 more pounds (32 total)... and my daughter is now 8 MONTHS old. 38 is a little much, but I guess if you are more active than I am, you're okay. Your body is adjusting back. A lot of women lose their appetites for a little while. You can always talk to your doctor about it if you are concerned. It *could* be postpartum depression causing the loss of appetite.

It does seem like an excessive amount of weight. In reality you have lost 25 Ibs. or thereabouts when you gave birth. Baby, placenta all that good stuff. I can't begin to calculate the amount of calories you burn before, during and after delivery. So, in reality you have lost 13 Ibs., less baby etc. It's almost a pound a day. Are you breast feeding? As always, if you are unsure, consult your doc. Most women would kill to lose 38 pounds in 11 days!!! Hope all is well. O and congratulations!

Well if you lost 38 pounds in just eleven days you should be a little concerned. You should try to gain some back or stay exactly where you are. Some women just don't breastfeed so formula is the best way to go. Your insomnia is just your hormones reacting to post-birth.

If you are having trouble sleeping, check with your doctor. He could have you take Tylenol PM to help. As far as the weight goes, did you eat healthy during pregnancy? If you did that will surely help you to lose it very quickly after birth. You probably are drinking a lot of water too, which also helps a great deal. You should try to get your apetite back. Some people's bodies have a hard time readjusting. If you can't gain your apetite back, call your doctor. Watch for signs of postpardum depression. I had it with my last child and let me tell you, it is horrible and is NOT a sign of weakness. There are things to help with there issues. (Despite what Tom Cruise says!)

that is a lot of weight loss honey in a very short period of time. it can cause you to have many internal and external problems. If you have insomnia try some natural teas like chamomile and caffeine free before bedtime. Try relaxing to dim lights and soft instrumental music light sounds capes etc. If you do not have an appetite you need to get your nutrition somewhere somehow. You should still be taking your multi vitamins and you need a supplement for protein. Get energy bars and protein drinks to help. Please try to eat little bits like crackers and cheese peanut butter glass of milk eat fruit and vegetables if you can not tolerate meat and heavy food. Go to whole foods and purchase some healthy salads and prepared foods with nutrition. You should also contact your Doctor he/she will offer more help and suggestions.

That's too much. The baby and other "stuff" only about 15 max. And water/blood another 10-15 or so. You are losing way too fast. See your OB, make sure you don't have postpartum depression or something.

You could have postpartum depression. You should tell your doctor that you are having trouble sleeping and eating. It's important to address this right away, or it could get worse.
