First off, I dont know much at all about the bible. All I know is god gives us freedom to make all our own choices. What if we choose to not want to live? why would it be bad to take your own life if you just do not want it? I'm sure there is a reason, I just don't know what it is

First of all, GOD has said, do not kill. Suicide is killing. Now you could argue, do unto "others" as you'd have done unto you. But then suicide causes much mourning and distress among "others". However it does depend on the state of mind of the person at the time of death. A person who despairs due to mental illness, is it their fault? Most suicides in the usa today is among teens. But they are dying in and of mortal sin, as they are not repenting the sin, but losing hope. and the only sin which cannot be forgiven is the sin which is not repented. Therefore they are guilty of this mortal sin, if they do so in a state of mind effectual of a willful act. If they can't be held responsible for their actions that's a problem. If they are responsible . .. we will hope they are in purgatory, because the alternative is too gruesome to consider. We are warned repeatedly about hell, and the woes of it, which should if nothing else will, wake people up to reality that this is LIFE and death that we believe and obey GOD OUR FATHER. If people were caring about others, maybe they wouldn't have committed suicide. If they went to GOD with their troubles, you know JESUS would have helped them. such is the KINGDOM OF GOD. So maybe the problem is really with society and false teaching which is leading to apostacy in society and despair among the youth who have everything on a silver platter, except GOD.

LOVE your neighbor as yourself.
Amen.

Thou shalt not kill.
Commandment stands for others & self.
Suicide may be a permanent out; but it is a selfish act of that individual. Strength, perserverance, courage is for those that get over the hurt, move on & try to make it better. Many times it takes moral, emotional & mental assistance/help from others.

God left the commandments. All other choices on what you do with your life is your freedom of choice. If you realize it turns out to be the wrong choice, fix it & start over.

Can you imagine a place where the landlord claims to be actually pleased that so many chanting, praying, singing nitwits are cluttering up his many mansions? He won't get a moment's rest! "Hey, God, the pipe's are busted again. Can you do that finger-snapping thing?" Or "Dear Mr. God, we'd like to report that we are moving to Hell at the end of the month. The rents there are considerably lower for a nicer place than here. It's been entirely renovated. We will be expecting our security deposit back (our entire lifetime of tithes, please) at that time." You've heard the one about the guy who committed suicide and woke to found himself in Heaven standing before God. The man said, "Wait a minute! I thought if you committed suicide you automatically went to Hell. How did I turn up in Heaven?" "Eh," says God. "Don't believe everything you hear. Even I've even considered suicide!" "What stopped you?" asked the man. "Well, said God, "what if this is all there is?!"

Although it is wrong to take one’s own life, a person who commits suicide may not be responsible for his or her acts. Only God can judge such a matter.

Obviously, we do not know the full circumstances surrounding every suicide. Only the Lord knows all the details, and he it is who will judge our actions here on earth.

When he does judge us, I feel he will take all things into consideration: our genetic and chemical makeup, our mental state, our intellectual capacity, the teachings we have received, the traditions of our fathers, our health, and so forth.

DEEP respect for the gift of life is a foundation of true peace and security. But such respect for life is sadly lacking today. Humans have become adept at taking life, but none of them can restore life once it is gone.

Respect for life is a sacred obligation to the Giver of life, Jehovah God. Of him the psalmist said: “With you is the source of life.” (Psalm 36:9) We owe our lives to God, not only because he created man but also because he has allowed mankind to continue until now and has provided the means for sustaining life. (Acts 14:16, 17) More than that, he arranged for his Son to become the Repurchaser, or Redeemer, of the human family, buying it with his lifeblood.

God is Holy and the giver of life. He made man and woman in his image which makes human life sacred. To murder is a sin against God - this includes murdering yourself.

Because in each one of us, there is greatness to be discovered- and a plan to help perhaps one or many peoples lives - when we take a life before its time - one is cutting short or stopping God's plan for many people perhaps.

Because by definition, God is the author and giver of life. To Him every life is precious and sacred, because the Bible sayd that we are made in his image (this is why Christians are agianst abortion).

to end your own life, is to destroy that which God has created.

Reason on it this way. I give you a precious gift. One that took much time and skill to make. I give it to you freely, without charge. You throw it back in my face, spit and curse me for it. Should I just laugh and offer you another? How stupid would I be?

God's gift of life is something we can't pay for. Nothing we have is worth that much. So He gives it freely, without charge.

You are here to learn how to love. You will keep coming back until you learn this. Every life will be harder until you learn this. So if you take your own life you will have bad Karma in the next. After all you didn't love or you would not kill anyone even yourself.
