NASCAR will never die, but if things don't change then it will suffer. If NASCAR wants to grow the sport, limit the owners to two car teams like in F1 to give those interested in getting into the sport a chance at the big time sponsors. If NASCAR wants the cars to be more equal then why don't they just have an IROC type of car that they provide for the teams. NASCAR will never be the goody goody sport that they are trying to make it into. Part of what has always made NASCAR is the controversies.....without that, NASCAR will lose a lot of fans.

It won't stop when we run out of oil or the price of gas gets to high because Junior Johnson is distilling "shine" again, but paying taxes this time, so they will just power the cars with Junior's White Lightnin'.
Anyone who thinks just "sitting" there can't be taxing, go ride a roller coaster for 4 or 5 hours and tell us how it felt to just "sit" there. If it's 100 degrees ambient temp, don't forget to wear some thermals, several layers of clothing and a coat to add to the ambiance.
It can be argued about which style of racing is the more challenging or about the skills involved but whether the turns are right and left, four F1 drivers have competed in NASCAR. Mario Andretti, JPM, Jimmy Clark and Rolf Stommelen. Check out how they did.

Richard Petty had it right, when asked how he would like to be remembered stated, "Just being remembered, whether as a good guy or a bad guy, didn't matter." Petty was the type of man that would have raced for pennies and he was always grateful to the fans for making it possible for him to do what he loved and make a good living at it, too.
You also have it right nascarfan31, as long as fans have favorite drivers and those drivers race in NASCAR, it will never die.
I may be prejudiced, but if F1 wanted to find out how much HP an engine could develop, give it to a NASCAR engine builder and if interested in learning how fast an F1 car can scoot, left and right, put a NASCAR driver in it and give him a few laps.
Slap some fenders on the cars and give them someone to race and watch out! I could kind of get to like watching F1 cars run 3-wide, rubbing all the way to the flag.
Actually, I'd just like to see F1 lose all the appendages and allow the cars to slide through the corners more. ( I loved the 4-wheel drift days )

There are crashes all the time in nascar, at least one in every race. The last fatal crash in a major NASCAR series was with Dale Earnhardt in 2001. No, drivers don't die often in NASCAR anymore.

Man, you've gotten a lot of haters answering your question. They don't understand the intricacy of the sport, and are just jealous, IMHO. But you are correct, my friend. NASCAR rocks! And NASCAR fans rule! ;-)

Amen!
shannon...thank you for your honesty and restraint. NASCAR is not for everyone (hopefully you continue to watch and become one of us), but you are among the rare non-NASCAR fans who come in here and don't resort to name-calling.

The COT has NO representation of a Monte, Fusion, Charger, or Camry....been none to any in 20 yrs...NASCAR & The France machine regulate & punish at whim. They just about regulate who the winner will be with mystery cautions and if anyone (driver/crew chief) disputes or criticizes publicly any subject, it's their ***...I quit as of Feb 18 2001 with the passing of the last hero, aint been the same since.............
