I see a strange Catholic church that I didn't convert to... a church that calls itself Catholic but has all but left tradition in the past and has instead taken up something they call "progressive". The progressives in the Catholic church are many, and likewise there are many progressive parishes, convents, and retreat centers. These progressive places (whether a parish, retreat center, or convent) are known for such things as enneagrams, reiki, eco-spirituality (a.k.a. earth spirituality), feminism (calling God "she"), polytheistic meditation (Buddhist, gods, etc; & misuse of the labyrinth in such a way), drumming circles, medicine dolls, public sponsorship of earth spirit retreats that involve paganism). With that said, is the progressive movement the true Catholic Church, and if so, what does that mean for the legitimacy of the Catholic Church?

It is. It seems that you got a taste of a liberal parish that tries to justify crap like that because its "in the spirit of Vatican II". Vatican II was NOT meant to be used this way, and its widely misunderstood. If you're in a parish like that, get OUT! Find yourself a good orthodox (in practice, not like the Orthodox) parish somewhere nearby.
Never leave the sacraments, PLEASE! Nourish yourself with good Catholic books, literature, and tv programs.
To answer your question, no. This progressive crap is not Catholicism. Its...well progressive crap.

In this progressive era of the Catholic Church, what they are doing is recognizing other spiritualities based on the principle that there is one God but this god/goddes has many faces. They have realized that any form of spirituality that the individual feels comfortable in, is the right path for that individual. Pope John Paul, as he traveled the world, would allow himself the opportunities to have himself blessed and/or cleansed via alternative methods in his vision that all spirituality is of benefit. It is also recognized that it is vital to keep in touch with society in this ever changing world, thus the changes that have taken place. I am not a Catholic at all but this is what I have recognized in their changing dogma. In their own way they sort of mimic the Unitarian Church with this new openess.

That is exactly how I feel! But Vatican II didn't call for this nonsense, and I think Blessed John XXIII is spinning is his grave over what has happened in the name of the council. Take heart in the fact that the "progressive" clergy are retiring and dying off, and being replaced by fine men such as Bishop Robert Finn.

I am a catholic and have been for many years now, I no longer attend church any more because I feel in my heart that all religion is dying including Vatican II, it's legitimacy has been challenged and is no longer a place of God, and those responsible for causing this to happen is man himself, his greed for wealth and power, and he now has taken up all that you have spoken of, he seeks out mythical things that attract others to follow, mankind no longer trusts in God but puts his faith in costly retreats and social myths trying to find himself and God, and is blinded by paganism and materialism for our father in heaven is spirit and is not found in the vault of a religious bank known as simply a "CHURCH" May God have mercy on their greedy souls.

None of that stuff is in the teaching of Vatican II. That's like asking is the Catholic Church legit even though all of the protestant Churches came from it? ( No offense to the Protestants.)

The TRUE religion is promoting the Bible, NOT Vatican 11.
Pope john Paul 11 tried to promote Catholics to "re-evangelise" their neighbours with its teachings, but his efforts failed. Why?
It obviously did not have God's support.
Is it then so strange that the J.W'S do it Oh! so successfully,
WHY/?
Because they promote ONLY the Bible, and not necessarily ONLY the New World translation.
The writing committee have used many translations to get the point across.

all councils are legitimate according to Catholic catechism, but i've never heard of these progressives.
It doesn't sound Catholic. Meditating is ok, you meditate while praying the rosary, but medicine dolls?
