I have wondered, myself. It just seems so obvious to me that there has to be a Mind behind the universe.
Jesus seemed to think that most folks would be reluctant to expose themselves to the LIGHT of God's spirit, because that LIGHT would expose them. They know what they are inside...we all do. Some of us are anxious to have all that garbage cleaned out of us...but most of us, it seems, are to proud to admit that they might need cleansing. If they came to close to that LIGHT, they would have to see themselves as the liars they are, and that would hurt thier pride too much for them to bear.
So, they cling to their cold "logic" looking for "proof" for things that nothing can ever provide for them.
It is sad, really, because they will die, still searching for what has been right their in frong of them all along...if only they would let in a bit of LIGHT...

I'm putting my beliefs down but for serious questions on god and evolution, I recommend the Case For Faith or The Case For A Creater by Lee Strobel.
First of all, people ask who created God and if God has no beginning then why does the universe have one. The answer is, God transends the universe. He is not of our universe, but of a place outside. I know it may boggle the mind, but so does everything falling together by chance.
If you saw Mount Rushmore, and someone told you nobody made it, it just happened naturally due to weathering and erosion, would you accept that? No. And yet your so willing to accept that all the areas of the universe, from the complexity of it's gravity to the specific lining of amino acids to form DNA is completely by chance.
Well I am a Christian, but I believe that deep down inside there is a burning desire to run away from God, a side effect of sin. Because people act on this desire, they delude themselves into thinking things like there is no God, no matter what the evidence, because they want to run away from judgement and the fact that sin is wrong. Eventually, this reaction got so widespread that people tried to come up with things to combat God in "science." that is actually just justification for running, and don't consider the other side of the story.

Good question.
I personally believe in both- creation and evolution... yeah, it may sound kinda contradictiory, but....
Death and reproduction (required for evolution to operate) simply couldn't happen untill after Adam and Eve left Eden. Yes, there has been change in many species since- I won't deny that. But I agree- Someone or Something had to have a hand in the beginning.

Evolution is not a "belief", its fact supported by mountains of evidence from scientists around the world through hundreds of years.
I don't believe in any god, because there is no reason to believe in a gods existance. And no "look in the mirror" is not a reason to believe in a god. I don't believe in fairy tales. I grew out of that weakness long ago.
Where did it come from does NOT equal "god did it" just because you don't know the answer. If you don't know the answer then the answer is "I don't know but I'll keep searching until I find out".

What does disbelief in your god have to do with evolution? Just because you don't understand evolution and abiogenesis doesn't mean that I don't. Diverse life from a simple cell is fairly easy to comprehend, where are you getting confused?
As for why I don't believe in your god (actually I don't believe in any gods), its because I have seen where gods come from - the unknown. In the past when man couldn't explain something he always created a man bigger than himself (usually with divine appearance) to explain it.
All of these have been abandoned in favour of a more realistic explanation. That is why I don't believe in gods, they are clearly fictional and used as stop-gaps for real explanations.

There will always be those who do not believe. The Bible tells us that. We 'see' it when Noah tried to preach during the time when he was building the ark. They did not listen. 2 Peter 2:5 but kept Noah, a preacher of righteousness, safe with seven others when he brought a deluge upon a world of ungodly people;......
With the fall of Jerusalem, Christ had told them about the downfall 33 years eariler. Some listened and believed, a great many did not and perished.
We are told even after 1000 reign of Christ, Satan will be released for a final test, and the Bible tells us those who join him: "The number of these is as the sand of the sea."
So, it's a sad fact that there are those who will not listen. As Paul said in Acts: "Paul began to be intensely occupied with the word, witnessing to the Jews to prove that Jesus is the Christ. 6 But after they kept on opposing and speaking abusively, he shook out his garments and said to them: “Let YOUR blood be upon YOUR own heads. I am clean. "
Free will means as we who are Christian choose to be followers, others are free to choose being an enemy of the True God.

The complexity is easily explained by evolution but you are right that evolution does not explain the first life form or the creation of the universe.
There are only about 600 million people in the world who can't see this compared to 6.6 billion.

It's hard because the existence of god cannot be proved. You assume god exists. You have no proof. I could just as easily say, "God is a purple bear that flies naked in heaven and eats poop," and that has as much credibility as any god you believe in. If you believe there is a god, you must accept the fact that said belief is pure faith, without empirical evidence. The question is not, "Why is it hard to believe in god?" The question is, "Why do you believe in god?" Answer: because someone told you to.

When are people going to realize that maybe, just maybe some things there are no answers for? Because no one can explain where matter came from they had to create God and a whole story to go along with so they could have an answer. Doesn't anyone have anything better to do with their lives than fret about unanswered questions? I enjoy a little mystery!

The vast majority of people have been lied to so often and so much volume by false religion that they no longer believe even if the truth is shown to them.
