The gospel accoding to Matthew has the magi, who according to some authorities were king makers from Iran (Persia) stopping people in the street and asking where the new king that had been born was.

Luke's account has the shepherds running down from the hills, looking for a new born, swaddled and lying in a manger, and, no doubt, as shepherding was a task given to the ne'er do wells, they probably had little decorum.

The latter incident happened when he was born and the former when he was a toddler.

Now Jesus was brought up in accordance of the Jewish culture of his day, and followed his father's trade of tekton. (An arch tekton is the forerunner of todays architect)

The final propet, John the immerser, was contempary with Jesus and according to Luke was his cousin. John's mission was to prepare the people for the comming of God's annointed.

There was the heavenly declaration at the baptism of Jesus, 'This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased'

Now John had built up a following, and a few of his followers became followers of Jesus, these became the core of Jesus disciples, and comprised both men and women. From this group he chose twelve to be his apostles.

It is to this group of twelve men that he demonstrated who he was. No one else but these men heard him rebuke the storm and produce and instant calm. No one else but these men saw him walking on the water on a choppy lake in the middle of the night - yes they thought they were seeing things too.

Sometimes only three of them saw his wonder Peter, James and John, who saw him transfigured. It was these three who were present with the childs parents when Jarius daughter was restored to life.

Jesus only appeared to his disciples after his resurrection. He did not appear to Herod or Caiaphas or Pilate. Therefore we only have the testimony of these men on which to base our faith.

It is claimed that Jesus had an orally based message, which could be learnt and repeated. Two things happened, what started off as an exclusive Jewish club, started to have influx of Gentile members, and Jerusalem was sacked and the Jews dispersed. so the sayings of Jesus had to be written down in Greek and entrusted to the Church.

We don't have in the gospels someone who stumbled on some good ideas and who people later decided to worship. What we have is the very essence from eternity to eternity. We don't have a Zoarastrian super hero. a Buddhist baby, or just another preacher that would have disappeared into oblivion if it hadn't had been for Paul, nor do we have one that God said 'BE' and so he became.

Yes we have a man as all men are, but inseperable and complete with his body, with his life and his living is the Divine. His body is now translated to an eternal state, and the marks of his passion he still bears

As far as I can guess, if what I have said is not the case, then deification would have occurred when Christianity was adopted as the state religion of Rome, when it was manipulated to conform to its pagan practices, but even so, what were the chances of them deifying someone who they had crucified, even it had been centuries before. As for diefying someone in the first century who had been crucified almost beggars belief

Therefore Jesus had to be inherinently divine.

Jesus proclaimed it. Old Testament prophecy predicted it. And early apostles spread it.

Fundamentally, Scripture itself claims that it is authored by God, through man. So, though human hands held the pen, the words are God's. If you aren't willing to entertain this foundation that we hold, then I could stand here all day and talk about this and you won't give a crap.

See Matthew 26:63-64 for a reference of Christ claiming to be the Son of God. As for whether eyewitnesses could remember something like that 20 years later. I would say "yes." Surely, I can't remember what pair of socks I had on 10 years ago...but I think I would remember that time that that dude claimed to be God, forever altering a world's perception of Him.

Consider these quotes of Jesus

John 5:
17 Jesus said to them, "My Father is always at his work
to this very day, and I, too, am working."
18 For this reason the Jews tried all the harder to kill him;
not only was he breaking the Sabbath,
but he was even calling God his own Father,
making himself equal with God.
19 Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth,
the Son can do nothing by himself;
he can do only what he sees his Father doing,
because whatever the Father does the Son also does.
20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does.
Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these.
21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life,
even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.
22 Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son,
23 that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father.
He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.
24 "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me
has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.
25 I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come
when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.
26 For as the Father has life in himself,
so he has granted the Son to have life in himself.
27 And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man.

John 10:36
Jesus said, "Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ’I am God’s Son’?"

"My Heavenly Father" that's how Jesus spoke of God. At the same time he was supposed to have said that he was "The son of Man". Jesus is both, human and the son of God. Whether people believe it or not is another thing. He surely said his Father and his kingdom were in heaven, but then when a guy multiplies bread, cures the sick, walks on water, doesn't hold a grudge to his enemies, and shows up after he was left for dead, you get to have a hint he may be heaven sent ;-)

Then why do you say I do not respect God when I say that I am the Son of God? I am the one God chose and sent into the world. - John 10:36

Clearly, Jesus Himself proclaims to be the Messiah, Son of the Living God.

Mt 26"63
But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, "I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!" 64 Jesus said to him, "It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven."

Mt 27:11
Now Jesus stood before the governor. And the governor asked Him, saying, "Are You the King of the Jews?" So Jesus said to him, "It is as you say."

It was something God the Father Himself proclaimed on several occasions, Jesus' baptism being one example:

"21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being abaptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased."

“Above all you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” 2 Peter 1:20-21. (New International Version)

"For unto us A CHILD IS BORN, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, THE MIGHTY GOD, THE EVERLASTING FATHER, The Prince of Peace."
--Isaiah 9:6

According to the gospels that are in the bible he did say that god was his father. The problem is that there are over 30 gospels and we only have 4 in the bible, They were written many years after the events and are probably hearsay so will not be accurate and he was probably speaking metaphorically meaning the "god" was every man's father if the man accepted him. Interesting but not important unless you make it important
