I was a Protestant for 50 years and a Moravian minister for 25 years before converting to Catholicism.
I converted for the fullness of faith and practice that is only available in the Catholic Church.
Having taught early Church history for many years it became apparent that the Church spoken of in scriptures is truly the Church created by Christ and the true Church. I was no longer satisfied to be in a church which was a pretender to the true Church or one protesting what Christ had created.
Since I have come home to the Catholic Church I have realized that this is the true home where all Christians belong. I feel as if the weight has been lifted from my shoulders that I had carried throughout all my ministry and that I can now teach the truth proclaimed by the Bible that says that Christ's Church is "the bulwark and ground of the truth" which will endure for all times.
In Christ

In very basic terms, it boiled down to this: I always felt there was something more, something I was missing, but it eluded me for years.
I was a baptised member of the Southern Baptist church. We did a lot of Bible study, which was good; a lot of praise and worship and prayer, also good. But there was also much that nagged at me that didn't seem quite right. I don't wish to disparage those good people; suffice it to say that I came to realize I had only been visiting, and was meant to have a different home.
After I stopped attending church and basically separated myself from the Baptists, God allowed me to wander in the desert for a while. I began to study church history, the origins of Christianity, all the way back to the apostles. Of course, this meant I eventually read the early church fathers ... which led me to an RCIA class, and I knew I was home.
The depth and richness of Christian life as expressed in Catholicism is incomparable. And it was quite obvious to me at the very first Mass I attended what I had been missing all along in my walk with Christ: Christ, Himself, in the Eucharist.

ReadyForFridayNights,Jesus Christ founded the Catholic Church. That does make it the one true Church. It is a documented historical fact. That's why we say that.
Esther, the Catholic Bible was the first and original Bible, so yes we are a believing bible based Church. And yes, many people are leaving their churches as they learn that this is the Church that Jesus Christ Himself founded. How can you not, in light of that?

I am not a Catholic convert, but I wanted to add something. Not only are many people converting (especially Evangelicals) but many of the most learned Christians of our day are converting. Reading their conversion stories is just amazing. People like Scott Hahn, Jeff Cavins, Steve Ray, Marcus Grodi, etc. These are people who actually HATED the Catholic Church. But the more they studied, the more they understood the Truth.
It brings to mind this quote: "To be deep in (church) history is to cease being Protestant." - Cardinal John Henry Newman
One of the most recent such stories in the news this year is that of Dr. Francis Beckwith. He was, until just this year, the President of the Evangelical Theological Society.
A very learned man indeed. But because he was so learned, the more he studied, the more he realized that the Catholic Church was THE Church. He could not deny it.
And as difficult as it was for him, he gave up all he had and became Catholic. He gave up his position and lost many friends. But the Truth cannot be denied, and he knows that.
You can read his story in his own words on his blog at the link below.

>>Any protestants return to the true catholic church.?<<
Yes -- I did, and what seems like half my contacts.
>>What influenced your decision.<<
The more I read the Bible, the early Church fathers, Church documents, and history, the more I became convinced that the Catholic Church IS the One True Church.

How come Jesus founded the Roman Catholic Church when he never ever left Palestine?
Did he perhaps realise that "Roman Catholic" is a contradiction in terms?
Did he truly want a church that was authoritarian, oppressive, dependent upon tradition before the Bible, antagonistic to newly-discovered truth and acquisitive of earthly riches - all the things, in fact, that he himself was not?
