Hi, Laptop! I was thinking along the lines of "Who would Jesus deny coverage and care to?" :)

Socialized medicine is more complete in terms of coverage but also more centralized. I don't support federal or state funding for religious organizations operating clinics; it's a violation of separation of church and state. However, where they can raise funding privately they do operate good clinics in remote locales ( rural) or dangerous neighborhoods ( urban) where you could never get anyone to build or operate a hospital,so they serve their purpose. But no faith-based approach is any substitute for fully-equipped hospitals and they are going to be corporate or government, one of the two - and I'm no fan of corporate medicine.

What a great question! I don't think either would be a good way to go. I have seen state run socialized medicine from the doctor's point of view (work in medicine) It is quite poor. The patient gets the cheapest care the state can afford. No new medications (only 6 per month even if you take 10)and in some places they are treated like cattle. A 2-4 hour wait is normal. The hospitals that service the state medicaid are always poorly staffed and in danger of having licence revoked. However, in faith based medicine, vital services might be denied due to moral views. The patient would be treated better, but what if the faith is against blood transfusions or feels that they cannot treat sexually transmitted diseases? It is a hard call. I am a Christian but can see problems with both models.

Here's a weird similarity though: In christianized medicine you would have to be of certain things like know the ten commandments, believe in god. So they'd tell you what to do. Now in socialized medicine, like in England, the head of their socialized medicine is trying to outlaw smoking altogether (which ain't a bad idea). But the thing is when you have socialized medicine then you get problems like shouldn't obese people be penalized? Or those with cancer from smoking? Shouldn't these people pay more into the system as they are a bigger burden on health care? To make socialized medicine equitable you will have to follow certain rules (certain body weight, no destructive, bad habits) or be penalized!

Probably very little, since Carl Marx seemed to get his socialist ideas from the biblical accounts of early Christianity found in the book of Acts. Secular socialism and Christianity have a lot in common.

perhaps availability for everyone...the cost would go way down and the care would be better.....vital services would not be denied due to faith based values....

there might be a limit set on certain things, (the hollywood fix up, boob job, lift, face, peel) burn victims need the plastic surgeon first before some one else does....

If Jesus does/did exist, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't deny anyone medicine... so long as they are/were good people.

I think it would be a lot harder to get contraception for one. Who knows really? Maybe there would be no treatment for aids. Saying that it is god's way of weeding out the wicked or something like that. Plus, I am sure abortion would be the first to go.

There's a difference?
The best doctors usually will tell you that they treat...but it is God Who heals.
Sounds like a great partnership to me!
