Generally speaking…

If a young, plus-sized, married woman goes shopping with her mother and her mother suggests looking through and trying on a “maternity” clothing item, is it because she is trying to support (without upsetting) her plus-sized daughter or because she is expecting/hoping for a grandchild?

sounds like she is trying to encourage her daughter to have a baby! sorta like throwing hints. does the mother know you are trying though? if she does then maybe she is just trying to show some support.

The mother should be asked at that time if she is hoping for a grandchild.

good questions

i am a big girl myself and have bought maternity clothes on my own so if my mom suggested it i wouldn't be offended but i can see how that could perturb a person (ya know) she was probably just trying to be helpful .

good luck and Baby Dust to you

hmmm i have no idea. maybe talk to her about it and how it made you feel. chances are she was not trying to hurt your feelings, and will be able to explain to you what she meant by her suggestion
