I pray to the Saints, my dead ancestors, and Marie Laveau for help with my problems.

I light candles for luck, love, house blessing.

I use inscense to purify rooms, as well as blessing washes for the home and myself.

I water and feed local birds dogs and cats. I try to live simple and recycle, and buy repaired appliances. I remove myself from battles and give them to the wind. I am mindful of my ancestors and try to bring them in conversation, and I am also reflective of the cylcle of their once lived problems, as I encounter similar ones at their same time in life. It unites my spirit to theirs and is a source of strength. My spouse and I cherish and are revitalized by birds of nature. I have grown to value time spent together almost as once young lovers. I can hear the quiet. I can love long distance. I have learned to dream the future. I can make washing the dishes as relaxing as a hot tub soak. I am surprised by the love of a child.

Well, if we look at the dictionary we see:

spir·i·tu·al (spr-ch-l)

ADJECTIVE:

Of, relating to, consisting of, or having the nature of spirit; not tangible or material. See Synonyms at immaterial.
Of, concerned with, or affecting the soul.
Of, from, or relating to God; deific.
Of or belonging to a church or religion; sacred.
Relating to or having the nature of spirits or a spirit; supernatural.

NOUN:

A religious folk song of African-American origin.
A work composed in imitation of such a song.
Religious, spiritual, or ecclesiastical matters. Often used in the plural.

Spiritual really doesn't have a meaning *without* religion or God, as it has to do with intangible material.

I try to see the connection of all things - including myself, and the universe. Physical things - like breathing exercises to reduce carbon dioxide and increase oxygen in the body. Try to eat good food, exercise (Take care of this miracle body) Try to take care of this miracle planet, feel grateful for this miracle life.

Prayer is spiritual, belief is spiritual, faith is spiritual, but todays society thinks that tarots are also, or believing in the undead to raise your great aunt to speak to you,.......

How haunting.......

That was talked about in the Old Testament, specifically the Judges. I find reading the Bible more satisfiying than ever, since many of the things that it predicted come true.....

I find spirituality in connecting with nature, the universe, and in realizing we are all connected, not only with nature, but, more importantly, with one another. I find spirituality in meditation by listening to what is within myself, in non-violence, and in seeing the beauty that surrounds us.

when it's a beautiful day and you see a funeral procession going by, it just makes me want to blow off the rest of my plans, go home and spend the rest of the day in bed with my husband enjoying being alive.
