Would it be wrong to just start quoting random stuff from Harry Potter books back at them? There's a lot of pretty profound stuff - as long as it's not spoilers.

I myself get very turned off by a person that can or would do that. It makes me feel like there trying to cover something up by quoting scripture. I don't like it at all. And I believe in God and the Bible. I just have a really bad problem with those over the top Bible thumpin people, I think alot of them don't really know who or what God is all about, personally. You know that holier than thou bullsh*t. I also think people who do that think there better or closer to God than the people who don't do that. WRONG. That attitude right there shows me that "they" are already going down a misguided path. Only God and it says this some place in the Bible, truly knows a persons heart and He is the only one that can judge anybody.
I have to stop here, otherwise I'll just keep going on and on.

you can quote me harry potter

if

i can quote you christina rossetti

I try to answer your questions honestly without quoting bible verses for two reasons....

number one - don't know that many bible verses by heart, so I would have to go and look them up

and number two-
bible verses mean different things to different people....

so unless the question is about a specific verse - like in what verse did this happen or what is your favorite verse, then I try to keep actual verses out of my answer....

so now back to good old harry potter....

what am I going to read now....

Its even scarier to think that the out of context, random quotes actually make sense inside the twisted mind of the person posting

LMAO! My spouse is kibbitzing this one, making me crack up.

My response was I have plenty of other sci fi/fantasy I could quote from, but spouse says why not just start quoting other random bible quotes back at them and see if they can figure out just what the hell we're saying to them?

As 2Timothy 2:15 says, we "must handle the word of truth aright." instead of just random quotes.

You could try Pythons Holy hand grenade.

LAUNCELOT: We have the Holy Hand Grenade.
ARTHUR: Yes, of course! The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch! 'Tis
one of the sacred relics Brother Maynard carries with him! Brother
Maynard! Bring up the Holy Hand Grenade!
[singing]
How does it, uh... how does it work?
???: I know not, my liege.
???: Consult the Book of Armaments!
MAYNARD: Armaments, Chapter Two, Verses Nine to Twenty-One.
BROTHER: And Saint Atila raised the hand grenade up on high,
saying, 'Oh, Lord, bless this thy hand grenade that with it thou
mayest blow thy enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy.' And the Lord
did grin, and people did feast upon the lambs, and sloths, and
carp, and anchovies, and orangutans, and breakfast cereals, and
fruit bats, and large --
MAYNARD: Skip a bit, Brother.
BROTHER: And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou take out
the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three, no more, no less.
Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the
counting shalt be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either
count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is
right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be
reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards
thou foe, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.'
MAYNARD: Amen.
ALL: Amen.
ARTHUR: Right! One... two... five!
???: Three, sir!
ARTHUR: Three!
[boom]

Maybe you just need someone to help you make the connection. The verses I see quoted always seem appropriate.
