From Dec. 19 to January 2 - the cost of airline and hotel package in New York is $900 US/person. You may pick hotels that are outside of New York such as Newark, Elizabeth, Clifton New Jersey - for a much cheaper price. Also, you have to consider the expenses on food, entertainment and shopping. You will probably need at least $1,300 for yoursel alone.

I really don't think there is a cheap way to go to new york during new years. I do know if you book a hotel in new york, you will actually pay double the amount than you do when you book on a regular day. Try to find something outside of new york to stay at.
