when they tell you the measurement of the tv, for an example- "Samsung SlimFit 27" Widescreen Flat-Tube HDTV"
is the screen 27inches wide or the whole TV(edge to edge) is 27inches?

The size of a TV is the diagonal mesurement of the screen (corner to corner). Not of the entire TV but just the screen.

TV dimensions always refer to the screen dimension, measured diagonally. So a 27" HDTV is NOT 27" wide, it's about 23.4" wide. Add the cabinet to that dimension. (Cabinets vary by manufacturer).

yes its diagonal corner to corner. and they round up. so a 32' tv might only be 31.5 inches
