Does anyone know how long they hold you in the State of Illinois for DUI or DWI penalties and etc helpful too. My step son was picked up and I wondered how long he would be stuck there.

Depending in what part of Illinois he was arrested, the circumstances could change. In the area I worked, you would have several variables.
1. Level of intoxication. If it is too high, he may be required to be taken to a hospital before bond is considered. Otherwise, he is kept under observation.
2. Bond. Drivers license, plus $ 300
No drivers license, or driving on a citation, $500.
Call the station. I'm sure they will give you the correct bonding information.

Based upon the question, it appears your step-son has been recently arrested for the offense and still in jail.

Generally there is a mandatory period of time establish to allow an offender time to sober up before being able to post bond and leave the jail.

Once he posts bond, he will be given a court date of which he must appear or the bond will be forfeited with another warrant issued for Failure to Appear.

Best wishes.
