I love the poodle. I groom her, play with her, walk her, etc. Still, she'd rather sit with my parents. I love her to death, she just doesnt seem to like me... at all.

Prove to them that you are mature enough to take on this responsibility. How? By offering to take full responsibility of your poodle for the next few months. If you stick with that, maybe your parents will see that you are serious, and it puts you in an excellent bargaining position. Then the only comeback they could use is "we can't afford it", in which case you're stuck.

you're way ahead of me. I wasn't allowed to have a dog at all, and it was all I wanted, all my life. and I wanted a poodle, too. the answer was always, "when you're grown and living on your own, you can have as many dogs as you want.". that was a lie. the law says 3 is the max, but that's what I have. little toy poodles.
as far as you getting another dog, I think you're really doing well to have the one you do.
do you pay a lot of attention to that dog? do you play with it? walk it?, usually, the more time you invest in the dog, the more reaction you will get back from him.

you do a couple of chores for them and when your dad comes take his key and shoes and put them away. At the dinner table slowly explain your situation and tell them that dogs should be around at least one other dog. That should do.

why do you suppose he likes your folks better? is it b/c they are the ones caring for him and walking him? giving him praise and petting him? maybe spend a little more time with the first one before getting another.
