I've come to realize that God is a Power. It's a Power we can tap into and use. God is everything - including all the good stuff - Love, Compassion, Joy - all of it. And It's there for us to tap into if we choose.

When I pray - I don't ask God for things. My prayer is about seeing the goodness of God - and helping myself to SEE things in a positive light. Gratitude is part of my prayer - and I used to thank God. But the more I think about it - I don't think I'm grateful TO God - because God doesn't DO anything. I'm just grateful that there is a God. So - I don't think I should be thanking God - just being grateful that there is a God.

Does any of this make sense? If you follow me - I'd love your thoughts.

If you're going to quote the bible - well - that won't really help me much - 'cause that's not in line with my beliefs.

The Bible is not in line with your beliefs. Then why are you even asking this question. Since this is all made up in your own mind, dream up and believe what ever makes you feel good, it doesn't make a difference one way or the other. God's word is the foundation on which we stand, and pattern our lives after. If we choose another path to follow, it is no longer about following God by faith, as much as it is our own imagination and superstition. If this is the case, your question is irrelevant because you stand outside the will of God anyway. Beyond this your question is not even worth answering since you will only listen to that which agrees with your presupposed, non-biblical position. Sorry. Lean not to your own understanding, but in all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Bible

Yes we should all thank God. There is more then just saying thank you, you have to live by his rules and guidence. You see alot of people say they love God, but the bible said that Loving God means you must follow his rules and yet are not hard, unlike the rules of humans. God is preparing to bring punishment upon the human race like he did in Noas time, but this time he will set up a new government (Jesus), which will restore the earth back to a paradise where no one will suffer again.

God is not a power...although He has power. God is a person. He came to Earth in the person of Jesus Christ, in History. He came to reconcile us to Him. While He was here, He told us why He came, what we were to do, how we should live, and what would eventually happen. He told us that without Him, we could do nothing. He told us that the world was condemned but that He came to give us LIFE and that LIFE was In HIM...not some power, but in a relationship.
I won't quote Bible verses, that wouldn't help...but the Bible is one place that you can find out this information.

God is a superstition. Sometimes superstitions can be used as a mental crutch. God's only power is as a placebo.

Love, compassion, and joy are emotions. Emotions aren't things you "tap into". They are states of mind you feel.

Prayer is a waste of time. It's a way for people to feel like they're doing something, without actually doing anything.

Well, if you are trying to pray like rubbing a bottle to get a genie to pop out and grant your three wishes, it ani't gonna work.

Try praising God for his glory, thank Him for your life which gives you a chance to know Him better and , yes, ask God for that which you need in life to draw you closer to Him.

Too bad the basic instructions before leaving earth aren't part of your beliefs. Without them you are stuck rubbing empty bottles for life.

Yes thank God, things happen for a reason in life, those who believe are looked after and know that a higher power has intervened.

There is an empty tomb where my Jesus was layed to rest, ut rose from the dead!

My heavenly Father is the author of LIFE and eternal life. All I have, or hope to have, I owe to Him.

I believe there is ONE living God, Creator of heaven and earth, and He is the God I thank!

He is the One to talk to in prayer.

Oh I get it, you don't thank God, just like you don't thank a tree. He's just there. I guess by that reasoning no one should ever thank you for anything - you're just a force doing whatever you do anyway?

> Should I thank God?
Sure thing, thank Him next time you see Him.

I think you have the right attitude. Have a good life.
