we are going through a mild drought here in michigan and my lake level is continuously dropping, how and will it affect the bass fishing? If it does affect it, what could i do to keep catching bass. What should i use?

Every year about this time, (in MN) , we get drought-condition's too!

HOORAY! I LOVE drought condition's. It concentrates the fish & makes it a bit easier to figure out where they are!

I would suggest finding a stream near your home and fishing it! Stream's get hit hard during D-condition's & can have "amazing" fishing in them.

If you are only gonna fish your "regular" lake, then look for secondary drops and mid-lake structure. Fishing a lake with less water is good news for a Bass-guy! Try to find logs, old creek-beds, "humps", & submerged rock-piles.

Anytime, fish are "stressed" they may "suspend eating" til a "change" occurs. If, for some reason, it DOES happen to rain soon, I would MAKE HASTE to the lake!

Fish in stressed environ's can't help themselves to a crawfish dinner. During "low-water" condition's crawfish are usually "re-locating", SO, try a YUM MudBug or similiar "craw-fish" imitator.

Hope this helps ya?

the bass go deeper in hot weather. Also, the constantly dropping water levels create some unique challenges for fishing because it uncovers the normal habitat where the fish hang. On the other hand, it may tend to concentrate them more around existing shade and cover. Try trolling some deeper running lures, also, troll slower because the fish slow down in the heat and aren't as agressive about chasing the lure. Work shady cover and pools. You'll find em again.
