Well they are both circular with a hole in it. But cheerios went on a diet and met a bee who covered it in honey and made it famous. Fruit loops met a tucan named Sam and they got stuck on a deserted island. They met at a family reuinion. Thats when the fruit loop and apple jacks got married.

At one time, there were two cereals ... and they lived in a great big bowl. But on a certain day one of the cereals ate an apple. And they were cast out.. And their children populated the boxes throughout the earth.
Now there are some who believe that story... and some believe that all cereals are related by a common ancestor... and are only different due to the regions of the world they come from. So some speculate that both cheerios and fruit loops both come from some cereal that crawled out of the milk years ago.

Cheerios are made by General Mills. Kelloggs makes Fruit Loops, so no, they are not "related." Cheerios are made from oats and have no sugar, whereas the Fruit Loops have a high sugar content. CarolSandyToes1

They are related by shape only.
*Froot loops are made by Kellogs, Cheerios are made by General Mills.
*Froot Loops are multigrain, Cheerios (with the exception of the "Multi-Grain" Line) are oat.
*Froot Loops are multi-colored, Cheerios (with the exception of the "Multi-Grain" Line - they are different shades of brown) are not.
*Froot Loops has one basic variety, Cheerios has many (Multi-Grain, Honey-Nut, Frosted, Apple Cinnamon [discontinued]...etc.)
