We're taking a trip and wondering what we can bring on an airplane. Can we take food through the security, or do we have to buy it all in the teminal?

You can bring your own food. Water and other drinks must be purchased after getting through security.

The posters who say you can't bring food onto an airplane are wrong. I fly every other month (at least) and have never once had any problems taking my own food on board. The issue is not taking it on the plane, but taking it into another country. If you're going to another country, they won't let you take perishables off the airplane, so make sure you eat it on the plane. Feel free to bring food from home - there's no need to purchase it after going through security.

As for drinks, you can't bring these from home and must buy them after you go through security. You can't bring any liquid onboard unless it's in a container smaller than 3 oz.

Yes, only after you pass the Security. You have to buy the food at the Aiport past Security first.

my understanding is that you still have to buy it all inside the terminal, after security. check the website for whatever airline you are taking and they should tell you.

You can if you buy it at the air port. From my experience you can't bring your own.
