Well, IMHO discernment is the recognition and differentiation of perhaps subtle differences and qualities. The implication is that these are not gross. Judgment is more of a qualitative differentiation. It implies that you already recognize the issues to be judged, and are making a determination of some sort, on the basis of an external reference or criteria. Spiritually, the discerning eye is the one that recognizes the issues being considered and is not fooled. The judgment of spiritual issues involves understanding the level you are discussing and also your own frame of reference and level /depth of understanding, as well as your own bias/belief. As an example, one will discern qualities and subtleties at an advanced spiritual level that one might have lumped together conceptually at a more mundane level. Yet one might make a judgment about those qualities in the light of your personal level of advancement that is just as correct or just as incorrect whether you really saw all the subtleties or not. Obviously the more discernment one has, the higher grade the judgment, but judgment implies a fixed level of insight informing a qualitative decision, whereas discernment is referring to the basic perception/recognition that precedes judgment. Obviously, there is a lot of overlap here... it is only where the emphasis is placed that makes the distinction. I can only refer to my own usage and understanding here. I look forward to your other answers.

To judge is to make a decision which not necessarily makes sense... To discern is to recognize the differences! Not at all the same thing, although may be confusing!
In religious (christian) terms: you(or anyone) will be discerned for bad/good during judgment... get it?

Discernment is knowing something, maybe identifying a spirit, or being able to tell the truth. Judgment is using the facts (hopefully) to make a decision, usually about another person or his actions.

Judging has an element of prosecuting someone, discernment is being aware of things. Discernment benefits you and has no negative dimension to it, but judging can damage someone else also in some cases. Sometimes the two words may be interchanged, depending on the context.
I hope this makes sense?

Judgment is exactly that. You are deciding the fate of somebody else.
Discernment has to do with comprehension.

Mostly connotations. Judgement is normally done from a narrow view, instead of using it's actual denotation and covering all angles to make a decision or judge something vs. discernment which is normally done w/o an absolute idea about something... more like equanimity. Both have relatively similar definitions, but dualism sometimes forces one to examine the connotations of the words to explore the differences and develop a more compassionate mind-set.

Judgment is what you think of another's guilt or innocence. Discernment is knowing if you are right or wrong.

Discernment is a term used in Christian tradition to describe the process of discerning God's will for one's life.
No difference. Both are equally idiotic because NO ONE knows God's will or His word! The buy-bull is the word of many many many many many MEN!
Both are used to spread the hate and bigotry of the intolerant.

Judgment is reserved for God. After the last trump sounds God will judge his creation (each of us) and determine our destination. We as creation are not to judge others.
Discernment is determining through wisdom and reason the nature of people and things. We can identify peoples intentions through their actions and words

Judgement is what happens after we hear a list of details or see someone and form our own conclusion.
Discrenment is a gift given from God. It will show us ahead of time what God needs us to see. Oftentimes it is a warning to avoid a person.
