You're limited only by your imagination. Think about the setting of your wedding and the tone you want to convey, and then start listening to selections so you can make a good choice.
If you want proper, then google "wedding processional music" and sample anything Baroque or Classical (Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, Mozart, etc.).
If you want more contemporary instrumental music with a sacred feel, try minimalist music by composers like Philip Glass and Estonian composer Arvo Part.
When it comes to instrumental music, you can also think outside the box: for instance, listen to the magic of Bjork's "Frosti" from her album "Vespertine." (It's a little less than two minutes -- so if you have a long processional with lots of attendants, then it's too short.)
And if you want to convey a lighthearted sense of humor, then go for a fun classic pop song with lyrics. A perfect example: Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong doing the perfect wedding duet: "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off."
Have fun while you're listening -- don't pick on the basis of what you might think is "right" or "proper," but on what moves you.... since that same song will be "moving" you down the aisle.

I would definitely suggest speaking with your musicians, because if you choose something they can not play then it is useless.
If you are getting married in a church something classical or a hymmn would be preferred. If it is a non religious wedding, then you can choose anything as long as your musicians are comfortable with it.
I walked down the aisle to a New Age instrumental piano piece, I was lucky that my musican was a Berkely College of music graduate that majored in piano and voice! She could play anything!
If you are undecided your musicians should be able to give you a list and play them so you can decide.
Good luck!

I walked to You for Me by Johnny Gill (It is in Madea's Family Reunion) Very beautiful song. Only I had my cousin sing it rather than just a cd player going. I got alot of compliments on what a beautiful song it was.

Anything but Cannon in D
Religious: Ave Maria or I can only Imagine
Non-religious: Possiblities there are endless. Bach has some lovely overtures.
Check with your church to see if you can have secular music playing. Some require you use some sort of hymn.
