Criminal records are a matter of public record. You can check criminal record and divorce status. If you're willing to pony up some cash a private investigator can do a more thorough job.

For those who say the past is just the past, there are some things you would want to know, like is he's on the sex offenders registry, if he's been convicted of fraud (stealing), or addiction issues. These are character issues.

I'd trust a murderer before I'd trust a thief.

I have a better idea. If you even have to consider doing this, then find a new boyfriend. Even if a background check does not show anything, it doesn't mean he hasn't been up to no good. Cheating or sleeping around, for example, is not going to show up on anything aside of his ex's diary. The fact is that you are suspicious for a reason. Why? Answer that question, and you'll know what to do. Either you're a paranoid and controlling woman, or he is not worth keeping.

I wouldn't waste my time. Either A, you guys aren't enough of a couple for everything to be your business yet, or B, he's shady and always will be. So, either drop him now, or give him time to let you in on things. If he's got something to hide, then he's not worth keeping (and you don't need a "check" to figure that out) or you are too insecure to be in a relationship.

WHOA! I think your being a little too insecure here. I understand that you want to know what type of past your new boyfriend had but the guy deserves his privacy. The relationship is new so how about you give him some time to come out of his shell. Most guys don't like insecure women, so you should think about making a change if you want to keep that man.

Call the SHOW CHEATERS. Or Call Maury Show and have them spend their money on a Private Investigator..... don't waste your money on him... HE MAY BE MARRIED, but don't waste your money on the investigation, go to Cheaters, and Maury Show or go see Sylvia Brown on the Montel Show, Sylvia will know.... whether he is a scum bag or a good guy... They will gladly pay to have him looked after, and then you can come on their shows and either be proven right, he's hiding something or you will be embarrassed if he is an innocent man... the choice is up to you, many people laugh at the losers on tv. whether it be the victim or the creep.

Hire a P.I. and get a background check on him. He might break up with you afterward though.

But better to find out now that he's some sex offender, an ex convict for murder or something than to find out after he's hurt someone you love or someone while he's with you- including you.

Or to end up falling in love with him and finding out and letting love blind you into letting him get away with it.

You shouldn't check into his past without him knowing. If he doesn't want to tell you about his past then give him some time. maybe hes been through alot and isn't quite over it. Don't worry if you are with him for a long time he will eventually open up and be honest with you. Don't push him to much. And i wouldn't go checking his past. You may learn things that you do'nt want to know. and it WILL distroy your relationship.

Okay first try talking to him to find out what you'd like to know. How do you know what you do so far? Unless it's straight from him, I wouldn't trust it. If he lies about his past... GET A NEW MAN who DOESN'T LIE!!!
